I just got a lux model E from a thrift shop and i noticed that it has a port for an electrical connection on the side of the top chrome piece. My question is, was it capable of fitting a power nozzle and if so what model. Any info appreciated.

Is it a Lux AE? If it is it will say "automatic" across the front cover above the hose connection. I understand that many were retro-fitted with power nozzle connections at Lux branches. Or it may be re-conditioned.

There are others here that know more about this subject than do I.[this post was last edited: 6/12/2011-19:18]

Electrolux introduced the power nozzle with the model A-F.  Your E was retrofitted at some point, as were many I've seen, and the usual place to put the receptical was on the top chrome piece.  Any model power nozzle will work fine, but I think a PN1 or PN2 would "look" better.  You'll need either a strap-on external cord for the hose or a hose with a pigtail cord on the machine end.  Beware that the genuine Electrolux pigtail hoses have a wide tab which fits into a slot on the model L or the recess on the front above the automatic adjustment knob on the F or G models to prevent the hose from swiveling and pulling out the plug.  If you have the plain E (not automatic) a genuine pigtail hose with the tab won't work.  I don't have one of those hoses currently or I would post a pic to show the difference.   You should be able to find a generic vinyl electric hose with a pigtail cord though which will work just fine.
