Hi Folks,

This is for UK members. If you're interested, Argos is offering the Electrolux Professional Z9120A upright at £95.69, that's £100 off the original price.
Unfortunately they are out of stock on the website, but they are still available from local stores. I've just bought one and I'm impressed, especially for under £100.

It's well made, not too noisy and a great performer. It has a metal brush roll and base plate and a bag change that reminds me of the old Electrolux 500 series. It is quite heavy and the hose is very short, but it's a bargain.

Wow - that IS a bargain! Mike King has one, and we all tried it out at a recent mini-meet. I was very impressed with the quality, but I wasn't so keen on the hose-set up. Performance was certainly good, and I love the way they're resurrected the drop-in bag from the 500-series (I always liked that design!). But I wonder how constant the suction stays as the bag fills...

I really don't need *another* modern vac right now, and more importantly, I just don't have the space for one until I have a little clear-out. But I would be sorely tempted otherwise!

Jack, I can always squeeze another vac in, especially when I see a bargain. I am selling a few on Ebay though, so I can justify getting the Electrolux, especially seeing as I was thinking about buying one when they were full price.

I don't intend to use the hose much, so I'm not bothered about the less than perfect set up, but it's better than some uprights I've used.

The drop in bag system is very simple and reminds me of the Electrolux 502 my mum used. I will let you know if the suction drops as the bag fills. The bags are coated with Arm & Hammer and so are supposed to prevent the stale bag smell. Time will tell if they work.

Hi folks.

Well I've had the Electrolux for a couple of weeks and I must say I am impressed with it. The bag is two thirds full and it picks up as well as it did with an empty bag, though the Arm & Hammer coating isn't preventing a slight musty odour from the exhaust. I normally use an in bag air freshener on my cleaners, so I don't notice any smells, so I will use one in the Electrolux Pro when I fit a new bag. My dog tends to grab pizza menus etc that are pushed through the letterbox and tears them up leaving a right mess that I normally pick up by hand. I decided to try the Pro on the large pieces and it picked everything up. If I'd used my Dyson DC18 or 24, the paper would have blocked the nozzle.

Argos have sold out online, but I have found a website selling it for even less. Tribal UK have it for £79.62 delivered. An absolute bargain.

If you want an upright with stiff brushes that makes the carpet vibrate like the old fashioned Hoover uprights and is solidly built, then I recommend the Electrolux pro. I would love a couple of beater bars on the agitator, but the four brushes do a fantastic job. It's just not good at above the floor cleaning due to its very short hose and lack of attachments, but the hose and tube are good enough for getting round the edges and in those tight spaces. I tend to use a cylinder model when I'm cleaning above floor anyway, so I'm not too bothered about the Electrolux's poor above floor cleaning.

Go on UK members, treat yourself. There's nothing quite like opening a brand new cleaner is there? Trouble is, it's rather addictive, I've bought four new vacs this month!
