Anyone have any experience using the new orange electrolux oxygen canister vacuums. I read a bunch of negative opinions about them being poorly constructed, and the wands burning up on epinions.com. I have a little extra money from taxes and was looking to buy a new toy, so any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

STAY AWAY from new electrolux "Oxygens"buy a used one if you want one for your collection.the vacuum Cleaner Hospital here in Greenville,NC has MANY of these waiting parts---some are gone.In their canisters motors tend to BURST their fans-happened TWICE in one machine waiting in his shop.Electrolux finally replaced it with a new machine.Others the plastic wands break easily.On the uprights-the big rear wheels break frequently-and on the frame too.its a LOT of work to replace.Now the vac Hospital justs calls Electrolux for a new machine.He is a warranty station for these.They do perform well-just not well made and parts hard and slow to get.They have to come from a factory in Sweden.
I have to agree about the quality. The wands on the Electolux Oxygen are solid plastic and don't fit together well at the connection points. When using them, you can't put too much pressure down because they feel like they are "bending." That's just awful.
If you want an Oxygen, go for a Eureka Oxygen from 3 or 4 years back. Those were stellar machines especially if you get the one that has the vibra groomer power nozzle! Excellent cleaning ability in my opinion.

Great, thanks for the info guys. I was going to get one used if I do buy one, because the retail price is just ridiculous. Are the remanufactured ones sold by CPO Electrolux worthy? I will look around for the Eureka Oxygen to see what I like.
Tony, please see the picture below. This is the type of Eureka Oxygen that I am referring to. This is the older style and much better made than the newer ones. The wands on these are metal...
