Electrolux Motor Question

I have an Electrolux Olympia One that has that typical musty motor smell. I want clean the fans but I'm not certain how to stabilize the armature in order to remove the nut on the fan end of the motor. I'm sure it's something simple but I've never serviced an Electrolux motor before. Thanks for any help and advice!

To separate the armature from the fan stage you have to gently separate the fan stage at the seam. Make a mark with a Sharpie on both side of the seam, so you can realign like it came. Once you get that apart you'll see the nut to release the armature.

The Oly One should have the Super J motor inside; longer armature, bigger (more expensive) brushes. Electrolux USA retooled their plant just to feature this motor. Also, they had a fire on their line and had to outsource the armature, so a certain Super J serial # run had motor problems. Elux took care of every unit that was troublesome under warranty. Those units usually have sticker on the tank that says 'Five Year Warranty'.


 


I think it was worked out by the time the Silverado and Oly One came along.

Nathan, thanks for your help! It was simple to open. I was just a little worried about putting too much pressure on the fan. But it opened right up. It's all cleaned out and smells like it should!
