Beautiful machine. I've never seen it with the chrome wands and handgrip either. Mine has the single wand (and as you can see - I still havnt found the rug nozzle or crevice tool).

This machine has a rather unusual history. I found it in the garbage when I was about 12 years old. Only the hose was with it. A few years later I came across a Canadian model 89 at an auction here that had the dual dusting brush and book brush in with its parts (I of course bought it). Then, in an interesting twist of fate, another friend asked me to help a lady move. Turned out to be the lady that had thrown it out originally (same house I had found it in the garbage at). Seems she had bought it in the French Canex when her husband was stationed in France and brought it back with her. She didnt know what had happened to the rug nozzle or crevice tool but gave me the wand and paint sprayer. Strange how that one came together.

Douglas....

Hey

Whats with the UK plug on your 90- if it came from France it should be the same as Tommys ;).

I have a very nice all original 90 - will try and get pics over the weekend as its still at Mums. It also has the instruction manual and sales leaflet with it :)

P.s In the UK at least the hose fitting changes from the metal ball bearing machine end to the 3 prong bayonet during production of the 90. Its a while since ive looked but I believe my instructions show the early version but the cleaner is of the later type.

hose end change

seamus i was wondering when it changed as on my 80 and the trident its 3prong bayonet but still diagonal pin detachable cord connector like the z30

maybe they still made z80s after the change of hose are we talking late 1960s?

Hi:

Guess I should explain a bit further about the plug. The canex (where it was bought) was the base store for the Canadian base. While the store was in France, it did not necessarily sell French stuff. This machine was made in the works at Luton, Bedfordshire. It actually had a Canadian plug on it originally as its a 110V version. (Apparently base housing there at the time was on 110V same as Canada so that those stationed there could use their own stuff). I Changed the plug to reflect that it was actually a British machine.

Parts?

Incidentally does anyone have some parts for the 90? I need the top name plate/brush clip, rug nozzle and crevice tool to complete my machine. I have a whole bunch of repair parts for the Canadian Machines I could trade.

Hey Jamie:

If I recall correctly the 89 and 90 were out at the same time in Australia (with the 89 just being the lower line machine and the 90 the delux). The biggest difference between the Australian 90 and English / Sweedish 90 was that the Australian ones still used a separate rug and floor nozzle while the others used a single nozzle for both. As well the Australian machines still had the flexible rubber crevice tool while the others had gone to the plastic. If memory serves the Australian machines also came with two separate wands like the Swedish one Tommy shows above (but with the brushed aluminum not chrome) while the English one was a single wand.

My English ZC90 is now complete thanks to Al. So this is what the complete set looked like. The only thing missing is the brush clip and name plate from the top of the machine.

Hey James:

Very happy to have it complete now. LOL it only took 34 years to complete it. (Well almost complete LOL. Still need the clip for the dusting brush and the name plate on the top) Probably as close as it will ever be.
