I believe this machine was made in Sweden circa 1958-62ish.

Shape similar to UK 94 covered in dark blue ribbed plastic (ELECTROLUX lettering in maroon on both sides in the 62 style) maroon end caps of the 55/62 type plastic, die cast combined bag chamber cap retainer/carrying handle. Switch was of the 55/62/65 type with the flex emerging from just below the switch like the UK 87/94 machines.

I have only ever seen two of these and neither machine had hose or any tools !

Can any of the Lux boffins complete the picture ?

Electrolux??

Hello Walter

Take a look at the Vacuum Cleaner Electrolux Exhibition in the Science & Industry Museum in Stockholm....search the vacs and see if the model is here, I believe it contains most of Lux`s models!!!

Its a bit fiddly to manoevere around but place you mouse over the middle of the main square of vacs, move up a bit and too the right, look for the Elux Z310a and the Elux automatic E, in between is the vac I think you are describing, BUT it hasnt got a number..AAhhhhh!!!

Interesting, Mike

Mystery Lux identified after 20 years.

Good to be speaking with you both.

Si,I managed to get into the Stockholm Museum site early this morning at work and found my way into an 'electrolux images' link and there was the machine...with a ballbearing coupling listed as BILD NUMMER (build no ?) 69678...modell Z60.

My memory/description wasn't that far out!

Mike, Thank-you for providing the link and I'd like to take this opportunity to say just how impressive the photo's of your collection are, that Hoover line up in what I presume is your entrance hall....they all look as if they've just left Perivale !! Your Eluxes as pictured above are great too.
I bought an 11 & 62 before Xmas, both at reasonable prices; come the warmer weather I'll knuckle down and see to them, thankfully neither need much doing although the 62 hose is a bit ragged and the 11's floor brush is missing.

I've rambled enough!

Many thanks to you both,

Regards, Walter, Newport,Shrops.

The "Big Landscape" of vacuums on the museum site really is amazing - there are some incredible machines there! I jush wish it was easier to see each one of them, and in larger sizes.
