I have my Grandmother’s XXX and have considered adding a power nozzle outlet to it. I took the cord cover and outlet off an old bronze Model G that died many years ago and still have the parts 8ncluding the outlet and wiring, wire cover, outlet box and have considered installing it on the XXX in precisely the same configuration it was located on on the model G so the outlet would be located at the bottom of the front left of the machine. I haven’t done it yet, but this is the intention.
I have used my XXX with a power nozzle though in the following way with NO modifications ....I use a power cord from an old mixer or radio...you know, the type that has the female two round prong end on it and the standard Wall outlet plug on the other end, then add an extension cord and plug this right into the wall straight from the power nozzle. Yes it just stays on until I unplug it or switch off the power nozzle itself if using an L shaped one with a switch on it. And then there’s the annoying extra cord to deal with but yes, I can use my XXX with a power nozzle this way without modifying the machine. I learned about using the mixer/radio cord from an Electrolux repair man. I went in back with him to his workbench once when we had to had our powernozzle fixed and he had a cord there set up so he could test run power nozzles he would work on.
I would like to add wheels to my XXX personally. I have hardwoods throughout my house mostly and don’t like to drag the metsil rails on the floor so I don’t use the XXX as a result.
