I'm a new member. I've owned an Electrolux model LX for about 20 years. I recently rediscovered it at my parent's garage and I plan on finally cleaning up and polishing the exterior. It's missing the original hose and most of the attachments except for a single wand and the floor polisher. I have a model XXX with all of its attachments (except the crevice tool), so I plan on using them for my LX. I'll post pictures of the XXX in the near future.

My LX hasn't been retrofitted with the sensitivity control dial and it still has the ejector arm. I'm guessing the previous owner(s) used a basement and attic key or a golf tee to prevent the bags (wrappers) from being ejected too soon. Judging by the bag that's in there now, the LX was probably last used in the 70's.

The early LX with the yellow and red side panels is my all time favorite vacuum cleaner in terms of its design.

Very cool! I can't wait to see pictures of your LX after you've had a chance to clean it. Vintage vacuums are a new hobby for me, although I've always had a fascination with antique machines in general. I'm getting hooked on Electrolux and now I might have to get an LX too! I like the style of yours, especially the side panels.

Go to eBay and check out the vintage parts. Looks like the 'Companion' has seen better days. That's easy to replace. The Companion' is the name Electrolux gave the ride on tool holder. I see that the tabs on yours are missing, and you need them to hold the rug tool, and bare floor brush.

There's a great thread on the model LX, I'll try to take you there.

If you need information on the ejection system, go to reply 87 of the thread, Lux tools XXX/30. It will give you a picture of the entire machine in parts, and the following is the ejection system. Great pictures of vintage tools by Crevicetool, and awesome pictures of both the model XXX, and the LX.

Enjoy.

Thanks for sending me the link to the thread. There doesn't seem to be much information out there about the ejection system, so this is very helpful.
