cord repair
The 2 areas of damage on the cord are about 3 inches from each other and about 12 ft from the plug, not even close to the end of the cord. It's like she only pulled the cord out halfway each time she used it. It was taped with electrical tape when I got it, but it was all sticky, so I cleaned it all up, and put new electrical tape on it. You have a good point about the possibility of a replacement plug popping off...again, I never thought of that. This G winder is very fast, and strong. Both of my other vacuums have replacement plugs, but they have much slower winders. I also got in touch with a "Perfect" vacuum dealer, who says he can supply an Electrolux replacement cord with molded plug, and directions on how to remove and replace it, but I don't want it to get sprung, and certainly don't want to injure myself! So this may be out of my skill set! The electrical tape can do the job for now, but I think perhaps I'll get a professional to clean and service her motor, brushes, bearings, etc, and do the cord, too. She's worth it, and I'll have some peace of mind. Thank you for so much sound advice. I appreciate it!
