I have a Electrolux model g I'm restoring. The cord winder works perfectly but it don't catch. I can hardly ever get it to stay out. Somtimes it catches but most of the time it don't. Any ideas of what is wrong? I've had it apart but can't figure out what actually catches to hold it out.

There should be a small clip behind the switch housing, put the cord in there to prevent it from sucking in. Tying a knot in the cord then hooking it will work too! Hope you like your model g!
The first Picture is My model G, and the other two show the small clip. Yours may not have the clip depending on the year it was produced

Inside the drum there is a pawl (a little lever that swings back and forth) that should catch and hold the drum. Sometimes the pawl is worn or dirty and sticks so it doesn't swing out the catch and stop the drum from rewinding.

The easiest solution is just put a cloths pin on the cord to hold it, unless you really want to open up the drum.
