Electrolux Model Fan L Fan Disassembly

I know that there was a thread on this on earlier. I would like to know how to get the fans off the motor for cleaning. I purchased two model L's and one of the them had been used with bent cardboard on the bag. I know a lot of dirt had been sucked in.

I already have the motor out... Do I need to remove the nut on the fan first or do I remove the long screws surrounding fan housing first.

Both.

There are two fans inside that fan housing. You'll need to take the nut off the shaft AND remove the screws holding the fan housing together.

I misread what you asked...

duh

I usually start with the nut on the shaft, THEN the long screws. That way when you remove the housing both fans are already loose and ready to be serviced.

Hose, Bag and Power Nozzle question

Can a hose from an Electrolux upright be adapted for use on a Model L or any other model with the pigtail connector? I would enjoy having a genuine Electrolux hose, but I know that my local Areus dealer will charge me over a hundred dollars.

Does it really make that big of difference between which bags are used? I bought some bags at the Dollar Tree one time and they did not filter well at all. I currently have some Air Plus bags that I am using. Are the Air Plus bags just as good as the genuine bags from Electrolux? The Areus dealership in Tulsa wants around $40.00 for a pack of 24 bags.

Along with my Model L I have the PN1 and PN4. On the PN4 I noticed that it has little vents on the front bumper. Are these vents used for increasing the air flow? Or are they there to make the power nozzle easier to push. I noticed that my PN1 seems to grasp the carpet better than my PN4. The PN1 will slightly lift up an area rung. But the PN4 will not. The PN 4 seems to have more of a sweeping action than the PN1. Which is the best Power Nozzle in terms of cleaning, PN1, PN2, PN4, PN5, PN6..etc assuming the nozzle is running correctly with appropriate brush length. I guess this really depends on the type of carpet cleaned.

By the way my PN1 has more brushes than the standard roller. A discussion on one of the past threads has a picture. This may have came from a Hospital G.

Electrolux pigtail hose

I bought a GENUINE Electrolux hose with pigtail cord from www.TotalVac.com for $99; but I think $99 is still pricey. At least I have a new genuine Electrolux hose for the L. Part #45791 or Model #EH-4P

At least the genuine Lux hose has suction relief valve (screw-type) & the hose handle swivels a full 360, unlike generic electrified hoses that have non-swivel handle that can make vacing less convenient. I prefer a sliding suction control valve better than "screw-type" valve.[this post was last edited: 5/24/2013-00:38]
