Hi, Anyone in the UK know when the Electrolux 65 was out from and to?? Mind you why I'm asking anyone know the same answer for the Electrolux model 55 and 310?

Thanks jb

Not totally sure....

Hey James

I believe the 65 was in production till approx 1965- the (rare) early version had a telescopic tube and metal filter retainer. Later versions have the standard 1 piece wand and plastic filter cover- the hose handle is longer on the later versions also.

Love the more recent "spotters guide" heh, have saved it to my desktop :)

Will come in handy, much obliged to ya.

Hi James, I have an early 65, complete with cartoon; instruction booklet;sprayer w unused bottle of shampoo;
unused polisher and tin of polish..........forgive me boasting but I love luxes of that period.
The 65 was revued in 'WHICH' in Apr 1960 and cost £29-11-5p and scored 8 out of 10 in carpet cleaning performance. The outgoing 62 scored 6 and cost £27-12-6p. The 'Junior' model was the 60 at £18-18-0p,a score of 6: it was replaced by the 64 @ 1962/63.

Hope this helps, Regards Walter.

Hello again James.....I've remembered some more: the 'one piece, non telescopic' type tube version 65 appeared @ 1962-3;
I remember them being demonstrated a an 'Ideal Homes' exhibition which I seem to remember was about 2 years before I started school in sept'65. I also remember the ZC90's power being demonstrated by a woman sucking up old fashioned 'sixpences' with the carpet nozzle. The 90 cost a whopping 33 gs !! the earlier version had a rather awkward hose to machine coupling. The 55 ran fron 1955 to 57 when the 62 took over. The 310 took over from the 100 (the 90's successor) @ 1970 which in turn was replaced by the 330 (1st 'sealed motor machines) @ 1973.

Regards, W.

Hi Walter:

Thanks for the inf - I found it interesting. Its strange that the 55 would appear so late in England though (1955). The 55 in Canada was out in 1949 and was surposed to be based on the Sweedish design as was our 30 which came out in 1939 and ran till 49 (with the exception of the war years when the plant made electric motors for the war effort).

I do have the booklet that comes after the one I posted above too if anyone wants it.

Thanks for the info!!!

Thanks for the info Doug.
Its very nice of you to go to the trouble of putting your booklet up here.

It veryu nice.

Thanks also Seamus For your info.

I was givern a pack o old Electrolux Genuine Bags which has some other lux models after the 100 model lux.

If I list them came some one let me know when they was out to or which ran at the same time?

Are the Electrolux model 100s hard to find?

Later booklet

Thanks Doug, I for one would very much like to see it, but only when you have time,it would certainly fill in some gaps for me !

Hi James, I think both Doug & Seamus will agree with me that
the 100 is rare and probably rarer than the 90. If you do find a good one I think you should be prepared to dig deep if the 90 that was on ebay the other week is anything to go by..... you may remember it ....from a seller from Stoke on Trent.

Regards, Walter.

LOL - oops I didnt know the 100's were that hard to come by. I just stripped a second one I managed to get for parts to finish up my 90. Unfortunately it didnt have the attachments but I do still have the body and hose extra. Wish I could find some other models here.

I'll try to post the second booklet tomorrow as I already have it scanned.

Doug

interesting facts

hi folks
i know my parents bought our 55 in 1951 here in the uk. it came with older z25 type rug nozzle, more modern dull extension tubes and beige thick rubber crevice tool. as for the challenge shown here, i have 1! maroon ends and grey ribbed case, in the z65 body. this is the first time i ever heard of this model apart from mine as i found it on a skip and it became a project finding its origions! and i still dont know really why it bore the alternative brand name, even though rating plate states made by electrolux. also about the trident .... as a kid in the 60s/70s i remeber 3 families in our street having yellow tridents, were they sold door to door? whats the story guys?
