I'm the original owner of a 'Lux Model 1521 Diamond Jubilee.
Finally wore out the motor brushes....can't find replacements anywhere.

I'm ready to try a set from Helwigcarbon.com; the #146. Its 1/4 thick x 7/16 wide x 1" long.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!!

The Diamond Jubilee motor had the plastic bridge over the back of the armature, the brushes were in plastic holders that had two screws that held the Brush and Brush holder in place. It didn't use a Super J motor.

Diamond jub motor brushes

Thx for your replies: no the super j brushes are way too big. I ordered them thinking they might work. My vac brushes are nominally 1/4 x 7/16 x ?

The DJ is my favorite Lux. I'm glad you're keeping it running! I need to find out why the PN with mine stalls when you pull it backwards on carpets.

Brush Grinding

Hey Rimshot, what did you use to grind that curve into your brushes, a dremel perhaps? In the past when seating my carbons, I either use a stone (better have nerves of steel for that one!), or hook it up to a variac and run it at 50 volts for about half an hour (works on my old Hoovers anyway, never tried it on a lux motor). Just curious! Thanks!
