Hmmm...pretty ambitious on craigslist, eBay no. I bet the hose leaks like a sieve...or will if used as a DD. Beautiful, original setup though, looks like.

I bought this for my mother in law several years ago and she used it without issue until a year or so back when a stroke made it impossible for her to use. She loved it.

If you want to get that kinda money for it, I think eBay would serve you better...unless there is a hot-bed of Electrolux collectors in that craigslist area. I routinely search craigslist around the country with software dedicated to do that. I often see nice Diamond J's going for $50-$75 with all the attachments. I have two 1205's...sent one to my son in Brooklyn. I think overall the Diamond J is a better vacuum....however, the COLOR of the 1205 gets me every time I see one.

Same thoughts as Kevin here, I've sold a few 1205's that I've gone through and serviced and tops got between 50-75.00 for them. If that one hasn't been serviced and the hose is original more than likely it's going to be shot, and if the hose is shot, the vacuum's probably not going to be worth more than 20.00 tops. Just my 2 cents.

Exactly....unless it's put on a collector's shelf, that hose will fail in use. And then what...new OE hoses are $125(vinyl, won't match), the aftermarket hoses are indifferent in quality(still won't match) and buying a used hose on eBay will put you back in the same boat. The plastic dip process hasn't proven to me that it will work as a DD on the older cloth hoses. He says the hose is still going strong....

Here's my Estate sale 1205

Here's mine, I found at an estate sale for the lump sum of only 5.00. It had a whiny replacement lamb motor in it and so I rebuilt an original 1205 motor and put it in. While the hose still has good suction it looks to be an after market one. Even after refurbishing if I was to try to sell it, it probably wouldn't sell for more than 50.00. A 1205 is a 50 plus year old vacuum

Quite a few yrs ago we had this big thrift store called The Country Store(it's since become a antique mini-mall). The one older lady manned the whole store and let's just say she was a force of nature, but not in good way. Upstairs they had a vacuum room....more like a large closet. But anyway it was jammed with vacs. I found a super nice G up there that had been very well cared for. She wanted $75...which was about three times more than any other vacuum up there. We dickered...she was unflappable....said after all, it was an Electrolux. I wouldn't give her the pleasure of paying full price. I went home, thought about it and sent a friend in there with the money.  Thrift store vacs here are usually $15-$20 max.

Electrolux did make a vinyl weave hose somewhere in the G/1205 production run with the external wire? I bought one recently off eBay. The way you can tell is that on the nozzle end, there is the plastic piece the PN plugs to...some of that piece is the aqua blue in color to match the G/1205. There weren't any aftermarket hoses that would have used that aqua blue I don't believe. 


 


 


It's not a electric hose....requires the external wire running the length. That part was absent in the auction, but I have a couple from old G's. Somebody on this forum posted a long list of Electrolux hoses, the yrs and what models they were sold with. I should find that list again and see where that hose fits into the timeline. I know in the beginning of the 1205, they were selling non-electric hoses with the external wire and then switched to the internal electric hose....which was a really big deal for Electrolux at the time.

If you'll price your vacuum right someone will buy it. I just sold mine without the powerhead for 50.00. So I'd try pricing yours at 50 and you might sell it. Just my 2 cents.

You may....

get the price you want on eBay as I said ealier....but eBay is awash with nutters that can damage your feedback rating, even if you did not misrepresent your item. A lot of good, long-time traditional eBay sellers have left over that point. I'd pay as high as $50 just for a 1205 canister, but it would have to be mint.

Shipping is usually the deal breaker on bulk items like this....no way around it if you live a long way from the buyer.
