Hello all!
First post to this board- my name is Nicole.
For many years now I have used and loved my Electrolux Automatic F. It was my grandmother's (she got it 2nd hand forever ago), and serves me well to this day. It is beat up, ugly, replaced the power cord with a new one, a big piece of shrink tubing over part of the original hose patches a leak... but it is perfect for me.
I'm not a collector, but I love older stuff that is functional. They just don't make stuff like they used to.
So, I picked up an Electrolux LX (I'm pretty sure about the model) but although it runs perfectly, is in really good shape, and looks damn pretty, it is too heavy for it to be functional to me (bad shoulders and back). I was thinking about re-purposing it (sacrilege!), but decided it would be better to find it a new home either with a friend- I'd have to find a hose and attachments- or with someone who would love to add to their collection.
The only glitch is in the power cord - the socket end shorts out sometimes. I can fix it by just trimming up the cord in the socket end or do a full functional-albeit-ugly replacement as I did with my Model AF. I didn't want to do anything until I figured out what I was going to do with it.
Does anyone have a good source for a hoses and attachments? Not vintage is fine. Or, is anyone interested in adopting this vacuum?
