Electrolux Lx bag ejection system

Hey any of you guys had any luck fixing the bag system? While I was working on the motor I decided to look at the ejection system to see if I could get my working again.I pulled the front hose assembly off to find that the brass rivet inside where the hose goes in was all gummed up.That hole is so small anyway it wouldn't take alot to mess it up.All the vac hoses are still good.There was another brass hose connector that leads to the ejector control that was also gummed up.I ended up taking it all apart,cleaned all the rubber parts( the diaphram,o-rings and seals)blew out the hoses and cleaned the entire housing really good.Man all that dust and dirt in there!! It wasn't to hard to do neither. I was kinda scared about doing this because I heard some other people say it was a diffuclt job.I got it all back together.The whole job took about an hour.Of coursse I don't have a full bag to test it out right away,I just have to wait till the new bag gets full.I'l let you know if it works or not.Thanks,

In the mean time....

While waiting for the bag to clog up enough to start the ejector process, here's what to do just to have fun. Turn the machine on with the bag in the chamber, quickly insert your fingers in the hose connector just above that brass nipple you were first talking about, cutting off air flow, you should have things start happening right then. SO MOVE YOUR HAND out of the way! This won't test for any particular setting, or if the system is adjusted properly, but it will determine whether all the parts function properly.

It may be a waste, but try sucking kleenex or paper towels into the cleaner, without the hose attached. That's how i've gotten mine to work. I always use a fresh bag, so I can reuse the towels/kleenex for making it pop again..

Mike, I opened that thread on May 14th after resurrecting one of my LXs with the brown gooey, stiff & broken tube through the hinge area. You will find it, Thread #1341, about 4/5 the way down the Forum Archives Index page.

Hopefully this link will take you to to it directly.

I have 4 LXs, early and late. 2 have the brown decomposing tubeing and the other 2 are fine, tho filled with fine dust. Getting at the main suction differential diaphram unit you will find it also has a goodly deposit of accumulated fine dust in it (probably) and its easy to shake out after detaching the tubes and removing it from the chassis.

I tested mine last night using Hoovercelebrity's method with the kleenex.IT WORKS!!I kept feeding it kleenexes and finally the motor shut off,the front came open,and out came the bag.I've heard that some people's bag comes flying out several feet.Mine just pop out 6 inches.That's Ok by me least I got it to work.Thanks Again guys!!!,

Supersize the pix for a detailed look. Sorta the same thing as meticulously applying wood grain MacTac vinyl to spruce up that old wood table, or 'antiquing' Gramma's walnut dining room suite in white with gold veining. My Dad did exactly that to Gramma's dining set in the 60s, my Mom was thrilled at the time, and my brother has since stripped it back to its former glory.

Surely one reconditioned to that extent with new parts and the like would still be collectable?

That's my rule with collecting, don't discriminate people, I don't do it to people, I don't do it to old vacuums.
