Hey Guys!

Can someone tell me how the hell to separate the body halves of an Electrolux Epic Canister?

https://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?26026

This thread explains it but I am having a hell of time getting the "locking keys", the white ridged strips that join the two halves together, to budge forward. I cannot figure out why or how they are "locked".

Any suggestions?

Removing slides on an Epic or other plastic body Electrolux

The best way to remove the slide bumpers on the Electrolux plastic body machines is to first turn the machine over to where the wheels are facing upward, next, open the bag door. Take a flat blade screwdriver, and insert it in the space in front of the cordwinder cover, with the handle of the screwdriver in the upright position. Tap on the screwdriver that is closest to the blade, and when the slides start to move, you can then slide them off the body of the machine. After removing the slides you can separate the 2 halves of the machine. I usually separate the bottom half first, the bottom half has the wheels. I usually pull the cord out a little so that the bottom half can be lifted clear off of the machine to where you have access to the motor for service.

Or insert a very thin metal blade (like one used to spread putty) between the case and the strip and slide the blade all along both sides of each strip.

Thanks Guys!

I will give the screw driver trick a try. They seem to almost be stuck for some reason.
