I went to an Estate sale this past weekend. I bought a nice leather recliner and looked over and saw an Electrolux handle sticking up from behind a box in the garage. I went over to look, and it was a NICE Discovery III. It looked barely used. It had a price tag of $15. The tag said belt won't work. I thought about it and brought it home. I looked at the brush roll. It was jammed with heavy thread. I removed it, pressed the reset switch, and on it came. I cleaned it up, bought bags for it, and it works beautifully. I had forgotten how effective these cleaners were. The air flow is awesome. It grooms very well too. There is a port for a hose, but I couldn't find it in the garage. If anyone has one for sale, I would purchase it for the right price. I will post a pic later.

It's really not a bad cleaner

I have an Electrolux Discovery III and I like mine as well. Unfortunately mine has a major problem at the ends of the brushroll. The screws are drilled into plastic at either ends of the brushroll, and it is cracked. I put a larger screw in to help hold the brushroll in place, but I have to be careful when using it not to get anything caught in brush like the end of a rug, etc.

Overall, I like the performance. However, is not what I would call a deep cleaner. It’s nice for everyday and I like the ability to switch from bare floors to carpet.

I had a Discovery II years ago. I liked it as well. I am unsure of their deep cleaning. I would probably agree with you, but I only have hardwoods and area rugs. It's perfect for me. I just would like to try the attachments and hose. Does anyone know when the years of production of the Discoverys?
