Electrolux Diamond Jubilee - where to get a new motor?

Glad to hear that your new hose does the trick!  Those older hoses can leak like a sieve when they get older.  And as you said, they are stiff too!

I agree

Get it rebuilt or get a replacement the metal lux canister are awesome machines!
I think someone said they used the Perfect bags (the cloth kind) i remember something about the cardboard being a little thicker. I'm sure that would help with filtration. If you want to make it a little more effective on carpeting a cwp brushroll seems a little more stiff and has longer brushes

Replace the motor? Are you kidding?

If your motor is not pulling what it should, take a look at the fans; they could have dust built up in them. While the motor is out check the brushes; Altho' they say replacement brushes are not longer available, I just replaced mine with a inexpensive generic set from Helwig Carbon; part # 146. Clean the comutator and grind a curve in the otherwise square end of the brushes and voila! Bob's your uncle! There really is nothing to these motors. Perhaps the bearings are worn....you can tell that by listening and feeling for roughness when you rotate the motor. But bearings are replacable, and not expensive.
Also, I know you did a leak check, but check your hose for an obstruction.
