Lux Classic prices

The Classic was $459.00 at Sears
$499.00 at Target
$399.00 at WalMart
$629.00 at Lacks Furniture (Includes floor brush, crevice tool, SideKick I & accessory wands)

At all Laredo, Brownsville, Mission & McAllen area stores. I don't know about anywhere else other than the RGV area of TX?

I may have to have my mother stop down and pick up a few from Walmart. Parents live in RGV. It is interesting that Aerus would kick its dealers in the shins, selling the same model at Walmart for 399 that dealers are asking 995 for. And the dealers in the door cost on the Classics was more than what Walmart is selling the units for.

I think that company's should give the smaller dealers and vac shops a better price than the big box stores as its these smaller stores that ultimately carry the company's name in service.

are these models not reman unit

Interesting ! but not new !

The Fact that classic electroluxs are in retail stores is not a surprise. Like someone said early on in this thread. They (lux) did it in the 70-80's, in Retail Catalog stores. They were plastic body models made in the Georgia plant. I wondered at the time, why doesn't lux try them in Vac shops that service every brand ? Again, like someone else said in this thread. Filter Queen did that in the 80's. As I had a princess model in my shop. Never did have any luck with selling it at a hi end price.
So it will be interesting to see how far and wide these Luxes appear across the county. Then how long they will be in the line up. Then again I have to truely believe, As much as I personally hate buying on Credit, That is what Sells high end machines. Along with a personalable and knowledgeable Sales person. Not a
Check out Queen (sorry, I've been one ) or a Stock person.

Just the Walmart, Sears, Target & Lacks Furniture stores along the TX/MX border do; (elsewhere in Texas do not) but I don't know if Aerus will be sold at in-home demos only elsewhere.

My guess is because most people along the RGV (particularly from Laredo to Brownsville) have very little or no carpets in homes; & many can't afford an Aerus down here?

My Electrolux Store...

My local Aerus dealer is the best dealer I've seen. You walk in, and see the new machines in the windows, but he has a "shrine" of sorts to vintage cleaners. HE even has a Model 24. Is very nice and fixed the switch on our Dyson DC25 for a good price (my mom didn't want me TOUCHING her precious Diesoon!) He has the same thing with the paper sign, but it does not smack talk Eurekalux. It only says "This is not a genuine Aerus Electrolux". Sales do not seem forced at all, and he has good prices on rebuilt Aeruses (Super J, for example, with a total rebuild is $500). The second the aforementioned Diesoon bites the dust, we're going to take a trip and get us an Aerus. (Fun fact: The guy has rings on the wall from where he used to stick his Electrolux "Thrift" Model T to the wall, walk away, and leave the vacuum hanging to the wall under it's own suction.)

my local aerus dealer

Our local person lives in Illinois, very pleasant to deal with, I bought an Aerus classic brand new from him, and also bought an electrolux advantage, I'm not sure when the advantages were made, the case looks just like the Aerus classic, but the motor is different. I love the sound of the two stage motor in the advantage. I text him every once in a while and ask if he has any canisters he wants to sell for a good price.
Regarding European electrolux models, the Ultra one is a good vacuum, I have one and bought my girl friend one for christmas a couple years ago and she really likes hers too. They are very quiet cleaners and they clean very well. I don't like the nonstandard hose end, but adapters are available to handle that.

Erm, considering that Electrolux Europe was in existence for longer than Electrolux US, I think the US Electrolux is actually the "fake" Electrolux who have been unfairly living off the name of a global enterprise... :&#92

After the boatload of Electrolux vacs went to the bottom of the sea, soon afterward the NA factory was licensed and as they say, the rest is history. Nothing was stolen in concept or otherwise from Sweden, it was just a very smart business move on both sides of the Atlantic.

Sweden's Electrolux Group AB is anything but a congenial corporation. They have swallowed many enterprises other than vacs. No product they manufacture since a buyout has ever been better than its predecessor and in almost all cases, significantly worse.

Aerus in Lexington

Aiden,

Are you talking about the store in the Southland shopping center? I've been in there before, the owner's a great guy! I talked with him for a long time that day, he showed me around the shop, his MASSIVE trade in pile, his vintage machines sitting high up (I tried my best to talk him out of his Model V, but no such luck!). Interestingly enough, at the time I was in there, he wasn't carrying the Platinum edition yet.....he said it was just too expensive of a model for his market and he was carrying the Legacy on down to the Classic.....of course, this has been a few years ago too!

dysonman1...

This is an Electrolux Model 24. It may not be, though, as I am a little rusty on the models before the Electrolux Model XXX (30), but I'm pretty sure it is this one. It looks like this one, at least. This one is also called the Electrolux V.

That's a Model Five.....that's the one I was talking about that I tried to talk him out of! Back in the early days, Electrolux used Roman Numerals to signify model #'s. X is ten, hence an XXX is a 30, V is five, XII is a model 12, LX is a Model 60, and so on. In fact, check out the link below. It's from an interview with our very own Alex Tabor (Caligula on here). Toward the bottom, he discusses his model V (5).

Yeah...

I knew about the Roman numerals thing. In fact, I have an Electrolux Model XXX! I'm not very good with Electrolux models, Although I am a Kirby wiz kid!

"There was no such thing as a model 24."

Not in the U. S., but there was an Electrolux UK model Z24 which was manufactured from 1934-35 (sold in Canada a bit longer). That may have been why crazykirbydude used it.

Btw, I figured out that the Z signified that it was an original design; while a letter following it signified some sort of modification.

Re: reply 17 - I agree that the original Electrolux began in Sweden in 1919. I think the U. S. subsidiary (Electrolux Corporation) should have gone with a different name from its inception such as Electrovac or Electro-US; something similar to acknowledge the relationship with the Swedish parent company. Although, even if it would have gone with something totally different such as Aerus back in 1924, the name could have stayed the same all these years, and the subsidiary could have claimed original status.
