my local aerus dealer

Our local person lives in Illinois, very pleasant to deal with, I bought an Aerus classic brand new from him, and also bought an electrolux advantage, I'm not sure when the advantages were made, the case looks just like the Aerus classic, but the motor is different. I love the sound of the two stage motor in the advantage. I text him every once in a while and ask if he has any canisters he wants to sell for a good price.
Regarding European electrolux models, the Ultra one is a good vacuum, I have one and bought my girl friend one for christmas a couple years ago and she really likes hers too. They are very quiet cleaners and they clean very well. I don't like the nonstandard hose end, but adapters are available to handle that.

After the boatload of Electrolux vacs went to the bottom of the sea, soon afterward the NA factory was licensed and as they say, the rest is history. Nothing was stolen in concept or otherwise from Sweden, it was just a very smart business move on both sides of the Atlantic.



 


Sweden's Electrolux Group AB is anything but a congenial corporation. They have swallowed many enterprises other than vacs. No product they manufacture since a buyout has ever been better than its predecessor and in almost all cases, significantly worse.

Aerus in Lexington

Are you talking about the store in the Southland shopping center? I've been in there before, the owner's a great guy! I talked with him for a long time that day, he showed me around the shop, his MASSIVE trade in pile, his vintage machines sitting high up (I tried my best to talk him out of his Model V, but no such luck!). Interestingly enough, at the time I was in there, he wasn't carrying the Platinum edition yet.....he said it was just too expensive of a model for his market and he was carrying the Legacy on down to the Classic.....of course, this has been a few years ago too!

This is an Electrolux Model 24. It may not be, though, as I am a little rusty on the models before the Electrolux Model XXX (30), but I'm pretty sure it is this one. It looks like this one, at least. This one is also called the Electrolux V.

That's a Model Five.....that's the one I was talking about that I tried to talk him out of! Back in the early days, Electrolux used Roman Numerals to signify model #'s. X is ten, hence an XXX is a 30, V is five, XII is a model 12, LX is a Model 60, and so on. In fact, check out the link below. It's from an interview with our very own Alex Tabor (Caligula on here). Toward the bottom, he discusses his model V (5).

I knew about the Roman numerals thing. In fact, I have an Electrolux Model XXX! I'm not very good with Electrolux models, Although I am a Kirby wiz kid!

There was no such thing as a model 24.

Not in the U. S., but there was an Electrolux UK model Z24 which was manufactured from 1934-35 (sold in Canada a bit longer). That may have been why crazykirbydude used it.

Btw, I figured out that the Z signified that it was an original design; while a letter following it signified some sort of modification.

Re: reply 17 - I agree that the original Electrolux began in Sweden in 1919. I think the U. S. subsidiary (Electrolux Corporation) should have gone with a different name from its inception such as Electrovac or Electro-US; something similar to acknowledge the relationship with the Swedish parent company. Although, even if it would have gone with something totally different such as Aerus back in 1924, the name could have stayed the same all these years, and the subsidiary could have claimed original status.
