This is a beautiful machine, and I clearly remember the first time I saw one - in a church, and I was immediately entranced.

However, when I finally got one of my own I was highly disappointed in the performance. I had fully expected it to "pull dry paint off the walls" as Hans Craig would say. However, the suction power is fairly wimpy, especially for a commercial machine. Later on, I found out why -- it has the same motor as a 1205! Yes, a 1205 motor, which is sufficient for domestic use, was called upon to pull air through a cloth bag and, what, a 12-foot hose!

And the earlier commercial model, the squarish, turquoise CA, has the same motor as a model G.

I never understood why Electrolux didn't produce a different -- larger and more powerful -- motor for its commercial machines.

I agree Charles,,,i found the same thing to be true.
There was an Electrolux CB at the grade school i went to(small Catholic School, about the time of the early 1205s),,and i was also facinated with it,,as it did have the PN,,and sounded very powerful. I remember they also had an extra long white bristle floor brush with it,,,thought that was the coolest thing!
My teacher at the time was sympathetic to my plight, and would let me go to the janitor's closet after school and bring the machine back to the classroom and use it on the carpeted area where she would read to us.
Once i got to use it, i was disapointed with the lousy suction and air flow,,,was very poor.
i remember thinking maybe the machine was full of dirt, so, i took the motor off, and the container was practically empty.
It really was a shame that Lux didnt have a more powerful motor on the CBs,,,they are an impressive looking machine,,especially the older all metal/chrome ones.
