Electrolux Cloth Hoses.

Need some advice. I have a cloth standard hose that I want to replace. I would like to remove the original ends from the cloth hose and re attach a new hose to the ends. Is there a technique for removing the old hose from the ends? I glue recomondation would be appreciated with where I can purchase would be helpful as well.

You will need a Hide Compressor to squeeze the hose blank into the new ends. You are better off replacing the entire hose. They are only about $20 at Steel City Vacuum. If you want me to order you a while hose, give me a shout.

I would replace with a vinal hose, the cloth hoses will develop leaks much faster, a vinal hose will last much longer.

i cut them with an angle grinder about 2 inches from the coupler, and then use a pair of vise grips to pull out the spring reinforcement. nathan thomas sells nos cloth blanks for 25 bucks if you would rather have cloth. i have 2 and they are great

Thanks Andy for the offer on ordering a hose. Never heard of steel city. Googled them and nothing came up. I really love the wooven hoses. I have several new standard hoses that are in good shape. Can you recommend a glue? I have changed the ends on hoses many years ago by pulling the wire to get it to unravel out of the ends. I was just wondering it there was an easier way to do it.

Steel City Vacuum is a wholesale parts distributer, for Dealers and repair shops.
For most purposes, the original super glue will work well. An old timer in the Industry said to order the Goodyear Shoe Goo. I have not tried it, but he swears by it.

I'm sorry, that should say Hose Compressor. This darn Cell Phone...
It squeezes the hose to be smaller, to slide into the hose ends, and relies on the shape of the Metal hose ring to hold together.
I have not been able to get Cloth hoses or Blanks. Why bother when it will stiffen and lose suction?

I, myself, don't even have a Hose Compressor. I go to one of the older shops and use his. Electrolux used to make them, but they are long out of production.

I've never heard of vinal, do you mean vinyl?

if your phone takes pictures, perhaps you can take a picture of the Compressor and maybe it being used.

If not, perhaps use your digital camera and upload the pictures so we can see what you are talking about.

The hose I have as a replacment is an electrolux cloth hose so it should fit into the ends just fine correct?? Thanks Andy! You are a wealth of information!

It should fit. Is it the woven Vinyl or the Woven cloth? It's the woven cloth hoses that take the Hose Compressor, as I understand it.
