<span style="font-family: comic sans ms,sans-serif;">Imagine one of today's vacs being 62+ years old and working as well as the day it was brand new!

"A thing of beauty is a joy forever."

But you should get lovelier hose for it! It doesn't need to be an original woven hose -- there are gray or silver coiled hoses that would look really nice.

See my photo. That's actually a Royal upright hose that matches the silver trim on the Electrolux E-A very nicely.

Yes, that is an attractive-looking machine, Greg (original post), and its craftsmanship is undeniable after 62 + years ... amazing! Wish they would have made those caddies after the Model LXI. I like how the hose coils match the machine's stripes but would agree with Charles that a gray version to match the body would be even sharper.

Charles, your Model E-A with matching hose is pleasing to the eyes, too.

After the LX/LXI, there would have been no point in the tool caddy since there were only two standard tools. The crevice tool was an optional accessory that cost a couple of bucks.

In fact, that was a big selling point for the new E and then the E-A Model: "Cleans your whole house with only 2 tools!"

I've never seen the above ad, Charles. Thanks for posting it. While you make a good point about the lack of need for a caddy for two tools, I do wish Electrolux would have added some type of clip for the crevice tool for quick retrievals.

Well, again, starting with the Model E the crevice tool (which they called the "narrow space cleaner") was an optional accessory. So I doubt Electrolux designers would have considered it necessary to provide a place to store it on the machine -- same for the white-bristle floor & dusting brushes, sprayer, de-mother, etc etc etc.......

I've found many old Electroluxes over the years that had crevice tools that looked like they were never used. They used to be called "radiator tools," and once radiators began to disappear, people really didn't need a "radiator tool" any longer so the attachment was used rarely or never.

Electrolux still makes one, although now it's a little cheesy thing about 4" long that's about "as useless as teats on a boar hog" as they say in the South.

I see the attachment called "crack cleaner" on eBay listings sometimes and that always makes me laugh -- imagining someone using it to clean their crack! hahaha

Oh, and Kirby used to make one that was 30" long! I've only ever seen one; it was gray and had the same ribbed surface as the wands and regular-size crevice tool.

Well, now that I have totally derailed this thread, here's the patent for the Model LX "Companion."
