Hi folks, this is my first post. I have a pretty nice Electrolux Model CB that I picked up several years ago at a church rummage sale. I use fairly regularly as a shop vac. Unfortunately the hose is falling apart. I've been holding it together with tape. The hose is almost 12 feet long and I can't find a replacement on line. I don't really need the replacement to be 12 feet but I'd like to have 8 or 10. Any suggestions? Can I buy bulk hose and adapt the ends of the old hose?

Thanks,

- Pete

Hi LBPete

First let me welcome you to Vacuumland, secondly, happy belated birthday.

Since it's a C-B, any Electrolux non electric hose will do, then all you need is the cord for the power nozzle that clips to the hose, and the pigtail end plugs into the main unit. As you will soon learn, there are a lot of Electrolux collectors here, and somebody is sure to have what you need.

My main interest is the history of the vacuum cleaner, and while my all time favorite is the Electrolux LX of 1952, I'm also very fond of the early Kirby models, and as a historian, am extremely interested in the non electric's of the late 1800's.

Please tell us what machines you like and feel free to look at the club archives, there are a lot of very interesting posts on a number of brands and models. There are also experts by the dozen here to respond to any question you have.

Once again, welcome to Vacuumland.

Alex Taber.

"adapt the ends"?

You should be able to unscrew ends and find suitable hose at a vac store or even swimming pool type hose.A CB was shown being used as a shop type vac in a Martha Stewart book on remodeling a home.Good luck.
