Hi All,

Looking to purchase an Electrolux Canister - had one back home where we would connect a 10 meter long hose and be able to do most of the living space in one go. It had ample power, was quiet and would compact the disposable bag like a little brick. Pic below.

I'd like to replicate that concept here in the USA, we've already got three Kirby's, a Rainbow, a little Bissell Hard Floor canister - but I want the super long hose-ability and the power and quietness of an Electrolux...

My question is - what model do I buy?? Help is appreciated.

Cheers

Unfortunately the hoses for the Aerus (formerly Electrolux) cannisters are only about 7 feet long and I don't think there are optional longer hoses available. I have the Guardian Platinum. The cannister is very similiar to the one in your picture however the hose handle is the pistol grip style and the power nozzle is the L-shaped design. The vacuum is very quiet however and does pack a lot into the bags.

Sounds like you want the built in vacuum, if you want a 10 meter= 32.8 foot hose.

I've heard of a 12 foot hose for a Rainbow (Tom Gasko), but 10 meters seems extremely long for a portable unit.

12 foot TriStar hose.........

It might not be too difficult to modify this hose to fit a Lux. Of course you'd need to purchase the hose end that connects to the machine and that might not be available as a separate item. Worth looking into, though.

I guess I have gotten used to the power nozzle as the noise does not seem to bother me any more. I know that Aerus has made a change so that the vacuum will now shut off when the bag is full instead of just turning on the bag full light.

@countryguy

Thanks countryguy. I'm going to buy one soon because the TechDrive switch has broken off my Kirby machine. I want rid of it so now is my chance. One of the salesman did tell me that the noise of the nozzle can vary depending upon the carpet. The one I heard in the store was a little hum and nothing more. I hope it wasn't a salesman trick. I can't wait to get it and regardless, it will still be far quieter than the horrendously loud Kirby I've been using for 15 years. Nothing worse than that screeching TechDrive (which shouldn't be necessary as no vacuum ought to be that heavy). Thanks for answering my questions.
