Cord to switch gromet
Motor to switch gromet
Motor to cord gromet oooooh ok there my issue ty soo much .my bad yhank you a million.

Dont have a volt metter whit me dang it .
Did i wire it correctly ?
three connections:
cord to switch
switch to motor
motor to cord

wont turn on but switch clics .

considering that the lights went out when you first wired the motor there is also the possibility that the cord could have shorted, if not the cord then the copper contacts on the cord reel. when I get home tonight I will pull apart my 89 and take a look at the wiring.

I will say that if the cord reel is bad and a parts one cannot be found your best bet will be wiring the cord directly to the switch that way you still have use of the switch. we can run through that process when the time comes.

It is wired directly yes
Like this cord to switch
switch to motor
motor to cord.
This time it did not put the light out but just wont turn on

well shes all back together now waiting on more free time to plug her in and test her out.Now im anxious 2 strikes all ready , new wires to motor , switch and i even change the cord on it all new should work .But i have a bad feeling about this one ,maybe im over thinking it but i just want it to work so bad .Has any one ever fix a vacuum and said hummm not sure if i want to keep trying on this one ?
Yes electroluxdudexxx it is wire directly to the switch as my cord real cord was to old to keep and cord reel spring came un done and i wire it directly .

I'd like to help but my 15 year-old companion cat died a few days ago, and my girlfriend's daughter just had a baby yesterday and I've had this little thing in my arms for an hour earlier today, oh my, lots of emotions these days!

If you don’t continue to try, you won’t succeed. Many people who give up quickly tend to give up a skill that could be acquired.
If I had to chose between skills and talent I’d take learning the skills before taking talent. Granted servicing machines isn’t rocket science, but it can be pretty close to it when one is in the process of learning the ins and outs of the mechanics.
Let us know the outcome, I’m sure it’s as simple as a shorter cord reel at this point.

My electrolux has been wired directly to the switch whit out the cord real in place. I have anew cord , new motor wires ,new wires to the switch .Il try it tomorrow in my shed whit door open il let ya know .I think i have it wired right check my picturees above .

The devil's in the details...

The devil is definitely in the details when it comes to wiring. I thought I had everything correct on a Silverado I was rehabbinbg last month. It turned on and ran great without any attachments, but when I hooked up a hose and a power nozzle, I discovered I had two wires reversed on the cord winder, which caused the power nozzle to run when the machine was off and vice versa.

If you don't own a multitester, you should definitely invest in one so you can detect the short and open circuits. I'm personally more fond of the older analog meters but you can pick a cheap digital model up from Harbor Freight for about the cost of a hamburger. Sometimes they will even run a coupon to get one for free with any purchase.

Just out of curiosity, did you test the motor before installing it to ensure it is indeed working?
