Today I was shampooing the carpets when I heard a weird noise. I turned the shampooer over and one of the 3 brushes was not turning. I took the bottom plate off and discovered that the gears are plastic and some of the teeth were broken off 2 of the gears. I am going to call my Aerus dealer to see if I can get replacement gears....or is there somewhere else I can get them? Also, how do I get the gears off? Are they supposed to just pull off? I tried pulling on them will no luck but I didn't want to use a lot of force and break anything else.

Thanks,
Gary

I called the nearest Aerus dealer which is 2 hours from me. He says he has the gears in stock and they are $65 each so that's $195 for 3 gears....crazy. I asked him how much he would charge to do the repair....about $250 including the parts. I looked on the local kijiji and there is a later version of the shampooer for sale for $20. I am going to look at it tomorrow. According to the seller it is in good condition.

I did buy the shampooer (model S105B). It was pretty dirty but cleaned up not too bad. The handle seems to feel more flimsy than on my B50 but it does have a longer cord. It also occupies a larger footprint than the B50. I took the bottom plate off and a belt drives the 3 brushes rather than having 3 toothed gears. I actually prefer the look and feel of the B50. The true test will be in how well it performs.

Great find for a low price, congratulations! Which kind of shampoo are you going to use with it? I am still struggling to get my Floor Pro to produce a decent amount of foam while using Kirby shampoo.

I've tried to use more solution, but to no avail. Everything seems to be in working order, even the small brushes in the base plate, which I think are used for creating the foam. But all the machine seems to do is to make the carpet far too wet.

I'm running out of ideas. I have acquired an Electrolux demo set (suitcase with lots of demo stuff), including two small bottles of original Elux shampoo. I will try that, but as the bottles are small, this will not help for long.
