I have the c8 c9 cxl but the sequances goes C1 C2 C4 NO 3 the ydid do a few c4 regular lid and flat lid and curve lid diffrent color . Japan kept the cxl going calling it the air storm cxl red then silver then poof nothing .
In Japan Fuji Medical Instruments was selling a 100 volt CXL-DXL version called the Fujiclean Airstream EX-20. I have two of these new in the box from Japan. Next up was the Fujiclean Sunstorm EX-30. I have two of these too, one of which had a bad cord and upon disassembly found burned wires and a smoke checked motor ! That one was rewired, installed an NOS cord from a Hoover that used the same curving strain relief, and replaced the 100 volt motor with a standard DXL motor. There was also an MG-CS derivative sold there as the Fujiclean Airstream EX-60. I have one of those new in the box too. No idea what motor is in there as I haven't removed the blower port to look inside. It is still unwrapped and as shipped.

The first two images are of the first EX-30 I bought immediately after unboxing it. This one was clean and will remain in original 100 volt form. The last image is of my 120 volt conversion. It didn't come to me with a power nozzle so I team it with this ET-350. One of my all time favorite vacuum cleaners. If you look carefully on that third image you can see a dark spot on the white furniture guard. That is next to the motor support. Someone really got this poor thing hot ! It has a few chips in the powder coat so I don't feel bad about using it as a daily driver.

I became interested in Compacts through their connection to aviation. Interstate Aircraft, the original parent, was making a small single engine high wing airplane called the Kadet for the Army and Navy during WWII. They also made the very first unmanned aerial vehicle to be used in combat, the Interstate TDR. 80 or so were expended against the Japanese Navy. There was a TV camera on the front and the signal was fed to another aircraft, a big Grumman Avenger, that carried a crew who controlled the TDR through radio commands while looking at what the camera in the TDR was seeing. They sank some Japanese ships with them. Working as I did for the Navy in weapons development this naturally fascinated me and to think the same company made a high quality vacuum at the specific request of Howard Hughes for use in TWA airliners, well that just made me enthusiastic about Compacts and Tristars.

Yes indeed the cxl anniversary edition is quite the stunner yes the blue is a re spray my me yes
The CXL line had all the interesting paint schemes. Gold over black, silver over black, cream over blue, the red two speed, Eureka power nozzles, Tristar power nozzles. Lots of variety.

I have the flat top lid flavor of the C4. Interesting how Compact didn't stick with that design.

Ya i prefer t he normal lid on the c8 c9 cx l i might rebuilt my red single speed cxl . I prefer the Eureka nozzle with a wooden vibra groomer brushroller the vibra groomer metal brush roll is also nice but i have to say the beat as it sweep as it clean of a hoover metal brush roll and upright is dam near imposible to out clean id like to pair that with a compact tristar and see how good i t does .

The Tristar power nozzles are not as robust as the Eureka Vibragroomer.
got that right i havea gear belt tristar cxl nozzle needs a belt motor and bearing all ready granted was run rough .But the Eureka vibra groomer nozzle are dam good for what they are powerfull motor good belt and bumps that beats the carpet and make nice lines no wonder alot of vacuum brand use the eureka nozzxle.

With Tristar out of production replacement parts for those geared belt power nozzles are becoming impossible to find. I am pretty certain the motor with the same pulley was used by Filter Queen and Beam ( I have one and everything looks the same ), but the belts have become unobtainum. I figured out you can unscrew the smooth pulley from the black wooden Eureka brush roll and screw on the geared pulley from the otherwise identical Tristar brush roll and go with that. It fits. I found a few nos belts in a vac shop that shall remain unnamed ( because I cleaned him out ! ) and bought the last two geared belt pulleys from the local Tristar distributor out here. I have some Eureka brush rolls so theoretically I am good to go for a while.

The only reason I don't use the Vibragroomer more is having to replace stretch belts all the time. The geared belts are durable and if I leave the Tristar sitting for months while I use my other vacuums I don't have to change the belt when the Tristar works its way back through the rotation. But yes the Eureka power nozzle is way better built.

I will look i nto that thansk man , now for tristar compact gone for ever da m shame if you ask me .... i will hang on to any parts i can find there is a black label compact turbo brush for a compact c8 i have a C8 C9 CXL so ima stock up im good for tools but need bags filters and belts il look through my sites . Yes they should have s tuck with what works the Eureka rortomatic power head with a compact tristar is a force to be recon with smae goes for the eureka roto matic cansiter with the same pn does a darn good job .

The grey one debut in the 1980's as the Eureka Express power head. Then Beam used it as their Rugmaster. The original Eureka type above was also used by Rainbow, Airway?, etc. Airway also used a Eureka upright motor base without a fan or a bag as a power nozzle.

The eureka rotomatic power head show in beige and blue was use by Eureka , Compact , Tristar, Rexair, Raibow , Fair fax ,Nutone on central vacs , Jc penny Montgomery wards and also Eaton vickings and Patriot , Miracle mate and some air storm too if memory serves me right .
