I feel like there is a lot of confusion in this post about the brand names.
"Electrolux USA" should only be used to refer to Aerus products and Electrolux-branded products sold by the company that is now Aerus. I'm talking about the XXX, G, L, 1205, Olympia One, 2100, Epic, Renaissance, etc.
The "Chinese-made" Electrolux products like the UltraOne, and all Eureka products, are entirely unrelated to "Electrolux USA," which was the original name of the Aerus company.
That being said, *IF* the Swedish Electrolux company is pulling out of floor care altogether, I *really* hope that Aerus will have the option to buy back the Electrolux name in the US. Selling the rights to that name was the worst mistake the company could have ever made.

You have the Electrolux history backward. The word Electrolux was invented by Swedes for a Swedish maker of vacuum cleaners. That company began setting up branches all over the world as it grew and expanded in the 1920's and 30's. They gave birth to the name. The American branch of that Swedish company bought the sole rights to the European name in 1968, and sold the rights back to the original Swedish company 40 years later.
You may have a nostalgic fondness for the American Electrolux company and their vacuums, but the brandname is really not American. It would be like saying Toyota is an American brandname.
Most Swedish Electrolux canister vacs sold in the USA are not made in China - they are made in Hungary.

Aerus LLC, formerly Electrolux Corp. USA, manufactures vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners and air purifiers. Aerus is the successor to Electrolux USA.

I believe that allot of the Eureka products are moving production to Mexico. about a year ago Electrolux SA was about to source a new upright ( eureka ) that was now been made in Mexico. Lots of production is shifting out of China because of rising costs
Electrolux's Sanitaire uprights are all made at the Eureka plant in Juarez Mexico just over the USA border. The classic Sanitaires are the only real remnant left of the famous Eureka Company. The other remnant are the World Vac style tools on the "Made in Mexico" Eureka SmartVac upright.

I appreciate your intention to help, but I never stated that the Electrolux name originated in the USA. I know the company's history, and I know that both Electrolux companies have a common origin point in Sweden. I don't have anything backwards about that.
My intention was to clear up brand confusion in this thread... people were going back and forth throwing around the name "Electrolux USA" which is typically used to refer to Aerus, since that's the only version of the company name that ever made vacuums in USA (its original name was Electrolux Corp. USA). This quote, specifically, is what prompted me to post: "<a name="start_30985.347182"></a>Electrolux USA Doesn't manufacture anything. They import all Eureka items from China." This is entirely incorrect.
As I said, the name "Electrolux USA" is typically used to refer to Aerus, so in this case, the name is misused. Aerus/Electrolux is unrelated to Eureka, and many of their products are indeed assembled still in USA (Bristol, Va to be exact). That was the entire purpose of my post--to clear up the name confusion.
If people want to be more specific, they should use "AB Electrolux" or "Electrolux Group" to refer to machines made my the Swedish company. Eurekas are included here. "Aerus/Electrolux" or "Electrolux USA" should be used to refer to the company currently known as Aerus that manufactured vacuums under the Electrolux name in USA and Canada until 2001.

But Hold on ,,,, The new Aerus TOL canister is assembled in Hungry like all top of the line Electrolux/AEG vacuums as it is by origin a Lux product, Which to add more confusion was the original ElectroLUX . In fact the two plants are across the road from each other.
