Hello all,
First post here. Great site.
I have a 50th Jubilee Electrolux vac that I'm in the beginning stages of restoring and I have a question. The cleaning selector dial is virtually impossible to turn. I took it apart and cleaned up any dust and gunk inside the dial mechanism. It turned a little better. But then, after about a week or so it tightened up again.
Is there some product that I can use to lubricates that gasket that's inside the plastic housing of the dial mechanism? That gasket seems to be what's causing all the friction. I was going to use a silicone spray. But, I thought I'd check here first before I used something that would harm the gasket material.
Thanks,
Steve

By gasket, I'm assuming you're talking about the O ring that is on the control knob.

Clean it then put a little Vaseline on the O ring.
When you put it back together make sure the alignment marks on the dial and the knob line up.

Have fun

Perhaps

Replace the o ring If it’s cracked as it needs to seal and lube too as mentioned above.

Most decent hardware stores have, in the plumbing section, little tubs of silicon grease purposely sold to lubricate O-rings. Much better in all respects to Vaseline for baby butts and removing makeup.
