Electrolux 345 Find

Going to my Nans friends to help her "empty" her new Morphy Richards i was told about an old vac in the shed. She said i was more than welcome to it, some people are really nice!
It turned out to be an Electrolux 345, its in ok condition. I was amazed it still ran, it purrrs away. Only thing is the switch needs replacing and the cord rewind needs some attention.
Tool wise i need an extension pole and floor head, it has a pattern hose on it right now but it works ok. I was amazed at the suction from this!
Hope some people can help me get this retrolux running 100% I need all information on how to tear down,clean,fix and so on.

When you told me about this I had no idea it would be this beautiful!

It doesn't matter if it is that big thing or my little Electrolux Tango - They both have one thing in common - They are Electroluxes, which means they will go on forever.

I can't wait to see some more pictures when you get her all fixed up

That hose, it doesn't look like a pattern hose, it looks like a genuine hose off another model. Any chance of another picture of the hose?

That looks so much like a US Electrolux. Does it use a Power Nozzle or is it straight suction? Nice color, too. Best of luck on the 'over haul'.

Djtaylor- It is a very nice machine, i im not sure if there is a port for a powernozzle but i do think i have seen one with one.

This model had no port for a PN. However, model 325 was identical to this one and was sold in Europe. It had a socket in between the two rear foot switches. This model came to the UK in the late 1970s as a one-off exclusive for a particular store (i forget which). On UK versions, the socket was capped off.

It wouldn't have been Argos the 345 was an exclusive to was it ? It just seems like something Argos would sell.

nice find jake j murray argos did sell the 345 back in the early 80s and it was the best selling cleaner of that time. no it wast exclusive to argos yes they was built to last as for your lux tango any old electrolux from the 80s early 90s will out live your tango when they built your tango its When they started putin cheap tackie motors in the vacuum cleaners . sorry if i afenany one but your tango is no were near as good for reliabillatiy as the 345/350/355/2000range/lux380/390 turbomatic range/dolpins cleaners of yester years your tango was built in 2003 if iam not mistaken but if iam wrong iam sorry .

Jmurry the 345 was a cleaner sold on the mainstream market and it ran from 1975 until somewhere around 1983. I am not sure of the final date but what I do know is that it was an exclusive model at the very end and those last models came with a moulded 13amp plug. Electrolux did the same with the 502S too, they made the last models exclusive to Comet.

The 325 was exclusive but I don't know to which store. The only difference between the 325 and 345 was that most (but not all) 345 cleaners had numbers printed to the bag-full dial, whereas the 325 had stripes, like the 330 and early 345 did. Also the 325 had an all-round trim around the middle of the cleaner, and as I said before, there was a capped-off socket for a PN, which on UK models would not have been connected up inside. I am not sure whether the 325 came with it's own floor tools as seen in the rest of Europe, or whether it had the same automatic tool like on the 310/330/345.

I'm sure both of your machines will outlive mine - 2006 bagless model which is rubbish - jmurray01 you know what I mean, the Panasonic you have has the same kind of cyclone system!

Well actually, since I started cleaning the filters with plain water (and not in the washing machine as I previously did) the Panasonic has been working quite well!

While the 345 didnt have the outlet for the power head the model 245 (exact same machine made under the Dometic name) did have the outlet and and optional power head.

It happens I have both 245 and 345 in my collection and the only difference is the powernozzle outlet and a different rug nozzle.

They are beautiful machines! Something about them, that just makes them look so pretty - they are also ahead of their time!
Just waiting to hear back from a well known Mr Vacuum Cleaner if his friend wants it or it will be broken down for spares.

dysondestijl, I don't know if you ever found your Electrolux 345 but I have just moved house and found one in perfect working order in one of the cupboards. it has 2 attachments and the original fabric hose. It also has bags to go with it. last safety tested in 2007.

Hey I never did find a 345. I was getting one off a friend but that was months and months ago now so I don't think that's going to happen!
Would you consider postage? If it makes it easier I don't need the pipe or floor brush as I have them but I don't have the crevice tool
