Hi everyone! I have an Electrolux 1521. The cord is not retracting all the way in. Any ideas on how I can fix this? The cord winder is easy to get to. Is it just a matter of lubricating an area of the cord winder? If so what area? What should I use to lubricate?

Thanks!

Check your spring

Often its not a matter of lubrication it is the spring going off alignment. In most cases I have been able to take the winder all the way apart and recoil the spring back into alignment to correct the problem.

cordwinder spring

With care and caution or not at all!!In many ways these springs can be considered the most dangerous part of a vac as they can cut you badly and quickly if they get loose from their proper position and unwind suddenly. The Elux cordwinders are the best and most repairable.Easier on 1205 and newer.General hint is to have no tension on spring if taken apart.Consider gloves and face protection OR find someone nearby with experience.
