I'm selling my Electrolux 1451e heavy duty automatic upright vacuum cleaner. It's in really good condition and works well. The only issues that is has is the small bubble in the vinyl part on the front of the vacuum (see pictures) and on the very top of the handle grip there is a strange looking crack but it's not serious. The higher adjustment works as it's supposed to and the cord release works too. The brush roll mechanism works and doesn't make any strange sounds like they're known to do. The bad chamber is clean and doen't smell. And the wheels no longer squeak because I oiled them. I also scrubbed down all the crinkle finish plastic and now it's very clean. And the unclogging thing that slides out of the bottom is not broken or bent. The only thing I forgot to do before I took pictures was polish the chrome handle supports but I just finished doing that. I got this vacuum about 6 months ago to resell but I loved it so much I kept it for a while to use but I now decided to sell it.

I forgot...

To mention the price, $65 Obo. And the "check bag" light works. I also meant to say hight adjustment instead of ,"higher adjustment." And then bag chamber instead of ," bad chamber."

A few questions ...

1) Does it shut off automatically when the bag is full, or does the bag light just illumine?

2) What is the length of the cord?

3) Have you looked at the motor brushes to see how worn they are, and did you have the bearings greased?

Electrolux Upright

The above UR looks good and is a later model with many improvements over the early ones.I have seen many and can add some general info----
1.Full (or clogged ) bag is light at base without shut off.
2.Not sure? but similar to tank and good for most rooms.
3.Motor cannot be seen without special tools, knowledge and skill to properly take off upper body then motor cover. The good news is that motor or bearing problems are very rare unless abused or heavy use.The brush is easily seen and bearings at end can be cleaned with just a phillips screwdriver. The 2 belts are on a magnetic clutch and almost never need attention.(Unlike a current 2 belt model that is known for pretty colors!)

The cord is about 24 feet long.

Only the bag light comes on when the bag gets full (like it's supposed to).

I have not regressed the bearings but the guy I got it from told me he did have it serviced at one time. I don't know if that's true or if he's just crazy.

Jimmy, I appreciate the background as always.

Thanks for responding, Sries.

Wish I could figure out the difference between the 1451 and 1451E, then--I thought the "shut-off" was it.

I believe this was the very last of these made. It was out with the Diamond J about the same time the new Discovery II was hitting the market. This is among the hardest one of these to find.
