The Model 1572E/Discovery Plus seems to be as rare as hens' teeth--as the saying goes. Some have said that the "Plus" meant that it had onboard tool storage; although the photos in the listing doesn't show that--at least that I can tell. Several years later the Ambassador Plus tank was sold; I wonder if there is a connection?

The sand and jade color combination--along with the fact that the Discovery II was introduced in April 1986--would indicate that the Discovery Plus cleaners were manufactured around 1986 and 1987.

Anyway, I thought I'd give a heads up to someone who is collecting Electrolux Discovery series cleaners (Discovery II, Discovery Plus, Discovery III, and Discovery Advantage), sand/jade Electrolux cleaners, '80s Electroluxes, or whatever.

I found this at an estate sale in the garage and it is easy to push without sacrificing suction power. I didn't go to great lengths to clean this as you can tell.

These are great machines!

I was tempted when there were SEVERAL NIB ones on ebay. I have a Genesis LX- with newer brushroll, that I bought last year in the city for $25. It's GREAT. I just need to find an electric attachment hose for it. It is perfect for low or medium pile carpet. It's just a very nice upright all around, that is surprisingly sturdy. Nothing sucks like an Electrolux- no pun intended!

The "Plus" must, indeed, denote the attachment caddy on the rear for the wands (not sure if the floor tool fits on the horizontal piece) and the double clip by the hand grip for the narrow space cleaner and dusting brush/upholstery cleaner (which I'd missed before).

Check out these photos that the seller recently added to the same listing as previously mentioned (I also included one with a closer view of the hood and the bag package):

The floor brush would fit and work on above style uprights but was never included as turning off the brush motor made it one of the best to run across a hard floor. The horizonal piece is a latch that rotates to hold the shorter stretch hose in place. It has a hook to hang from on the back of the upper tool holder and a wire loop that goes alongside the lower cord hooks. The plastic wands are held by the curved spaces at the edges.
