In case I ever purchase a hild rugavator  I would like to know what that is. whether it is a pile lifter or just a big commercial vacuum cleaner.

I posted the eBay link( though I'll probably not buy that one just yet) so you can see what I'm asking about.

Thanks and may hope to buy one soon.

Certainly not a Pile Lifter

Pile Lifters are advertised as a "Dry Extraction" machine with a huge brush roll similar to a Kirby Miracle Head. This "Rug-A-Vator" looks like it may have a large fan but a very average brush roll. I've never seen one before. It looks like its designed to clean large areas of carpet with minimal passes.

I recall

as a child seeing this used in our home by a carpet cleaning service before wet extraction. The photo of the brushroll is misleading, but you can see that the rows of bristles are very close together and the motor for the brushroll looks huge. I think this is one of these machines that is probably close to becoming obsolete because styles of wall to wall carpeting have changed so much. We had medium cut pile and I remember this machine really made it look different.
