I believe that’s R-12 Freon

Which is getting harder and harder to find these days. Local auto a/c repair shop gets $150 per pound for it when they run across old stock. It was replaced in the mid 90’s with R134a. Most new cars as of 2015 have the newest refrigerant R1234yf, which is “mildly flammable” 😧

I’m not sure why Electrolux would’ve had any use for R-12. Possibly using R-22 in an air conditioner or refrigerator/freezer? Perhaps some of the Electrolux gurus will chime in on this.

"bottom of the alarm cabinet"???

Don't know, never seen or heard of.I first wondered if it would have a connection to previous Electrolux/Servel refrigerators but that had little or nothing to do with to Elux vacs.Cans mention "alarm cabinet".Address would date it to late 60s early 70s.????

This was used

As the propellant that made a fire alarm sound, The fusible link would melt allowing the Freon to flow thru a nozzle, kind of a whistle like thing, and make a terrible racket, alerting you to a fire, Electrolux also made water purifiers years ago.

Aerus "Lux" still makes water purifiers.Didn't know about the Freon powered fire alarm------BUT THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS--Combustion of a fire can break down the Freon into VERY poisonous gases! If you have one of those REPLACE it at once with a modern battery or line powered detector.Much safer.

You bet

Fire and Freon makes PHOSGENE, which is what the Germans used in WW1, very bad stuff!
