In case you're eyeing the following listing, I wanted to point out that the "rungs" of the power nozzle have been broken out. The seller threw in some cheap generic attachments to likely compensate for it as well as to give less attention to the fact that the cylinder is the basic, non-automatic model. Those gimmicks along with the fact that the seller does not accept returns and has an unreasonably high mark-up on a 25-year-old common model make me just shake my head. I hope no one falls for the scam!

Electrolux Ambassador

While it would be nice if this Electrolux still had original tools and a lower price this might actually be a good deal for someone cleaning-hard floors,rugs/carpet,stairs,high ceilings, under funiture, cars, etc.
To me the standard plastic body Elux/Aerus are what the Mo XXX and L evolved into. That is, a quality vac with enough but not to many attachments and features to clean anything in any home. You also get the filter behind the motor that even the also great AirWay did not have. With the LE style just lay a filter on the closet shelf and put 5 bags on top of it.When you use the last bag also pick up the filter. With Elux you only spend minutes on dirt disposal instead of the hours that bagless vacs with filters can need. Also one of the few problem areas with these, and not serious,is a leaking valve on the sometimes heavier, bulkier more deluxe models.
This particular vac(not mine)is said to be properly cleaned and serviced by a vac dealer(not me).If so this could very well be a like new vac.The missing cross bars on the PN are not a serious problem. And while the hose and some atts are not original they are good quality and new.
I was in WalMart just today and walked past the vacs. The Chinese only, upright only, bagless only vacs. Many of the prices were very similar to the above Elux for pretty colored vacs that need more maintenance and do fewer cleaning jobs than the Elux.If someone were to choose this Ambassador over a dept store vac they might become one of the satisfied customers this dealer does seem to have.

The one on ebay is way overpriced.

I think I have all the same pieces in that ad, including the PN.

I'll take the no frills one over the "automatic" one any day.

I have both types, and the simplicity of the no frills one will keep it going longer.

I'm thinking of putting the Ametek Lamb motor I am working on in this one (Ambassador III):

I agree about the no-frills being a good cleaner. It's just that one would think the asking price would be more commensurate with an automatic one.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Is there something wrong with your AIII motor, or are you just looking to give it more air flow?

^^^^^^^^^^^^*

Btw, do you know anything about the "Ambassador Plus" cylinder? I've never seen one and am curious about the "Plus" (thinking that maybe it was sold with a lighted power nozzle like some of the Lux 5000s).

Good points, Jimmy. There was just something about this listing that seemed slick and slight of hand. The "no returns accepted" raised a red flag for me.

No Returns Accepted.....

I always put no returns accepted as a default when i sell on ebay! I once got stuck with someone that decided that they didn't want an item (Not a vac) after they got it! I'm not a store and it cost me a fortune to get the product back and it was worse off when i got it back! I'm ok with telling you everything about a product and I will work with you up to an including a return off the books IF your a normal (IE SANE) person. but as a default i never tell folks i will accept a return! Hopefully you folks wont judge me as a bad ebayer because i do that to protect myself!

I am proud of the 695 Positives No negatives ever from 1999!

I didn't mean to generalize about the no return policy--and understand that there are disingenuous bidders from which sellers need to protect themselves. My red flag was raised due to the questionable features in the listing combined.

That being said I would think that any fairly-priced item that was described and pictured accurately and honestly would have more than one serious bidder.

Congratulations on your stellar 17-year eBay record--that's awesome!

The floor shoe on that powernozzle should be replaced.Where is the upholstery tool and powered hand tool?Makes me wonder what the condition inside the powernozzle is-they don't show you THAT!

Electrolux attachments

The above Elux(again, not mine) includes a new combination dusting/upholstery attachment.Even though it does not have the sometimes optional and always great small power nozzle on this type Elux it is easy to use the big Power Nozzle at the end of hose for stairs, vans, etc. You can also use 1 or 2 standard wands on the 2 power nozzle wands for high ceilings and fans.As always an Electrolux could vacuum anything in any home from a 1 bedroom apt to a 3 story house.
