These are VERY rare -- as noted above, the original "wrappers" introduced in 1952 with the Model LX. And the lot is in excellent condition. If I had money to burn, these would be mine. And I wouldn't ever use them for actual cleaning.


 


I guess the old saying is true -- "One man's trash is another man's treasure."


 


P.S.: They were assembled by hand -- folded, cardboard tops glued on, then finished on electric sewing machines -- by a crew of ladies. Soon thereafter, manufacturing was more automated.


 


P.P.S.: The seller has another auction of the next version of the same product but now called "automatic self-sealing bags." On one side is stated for Models "LX, E and LXI." I have this version of the box containing a full supply of  bags. (There are very few references anywhere to the separate Model LXI.)

Wrappers

As above,VERY RARE find!The boxes started out matching color and pattern of the LX.The 'E' emblem would be visible at top center of door.There was an ad from the company that made the glue in a business magazine explaining its development.

I think it was the model LXI, but certainly by the model E.

The original idea was that the dirt was 'wrapped' so tightly that you could toss it on a white tablecloth.

As to the wrappers and the box they came in, I have one but it fell apart. Reconstruction is possible with the tape inside where it won't show. I also have the filters in sealed packages, and reorder envelope. I even have the box and packing material the model LX came in, and of course the instruction book.

Some lucky member is going to get a gold mine.

Speaking of the Model LX, there's a really nice specimen of the very first version on eBay -- no wheels and no ejection control, plain metal trim instead of hammertone, more deluxe colorful side-rail logos. The only thing missing is the original hose, but it does have a model R hose that looks very nice. There's the original "Wrapper" carton and some newer-older-stock bags. It also comes with some of the optional equipment such as white-bristle brushes.

Somebody's going to have a very merry Christmas.

This comes with the original paperwork in including the instructions for the polisher and the Garment-Aire-bag. The only drawback is that one wand is missing but I'm sure the buyer has one of those, and most likely the polisher and garment-aire. And here's an added surprise, I spotted the 'Tufter,' (a very rare find) resting amongst the tools.
