This is a unique item I have never seen before: it is a toy doll featuring a golden sash that says Eureka Crown Princess. We know Eureka Williams produced a "flying saucer" shaped vacuum in the late 1960's which featured on-board hose storage. Does anyone know if this doll was some kind of dealer incentive gift, or perhaps a Christmas promotional gift for buyers of the vac?

I am in no way connected to the seller.

I am not familiar with any Eureka vacuum cleaners called the "<a name="start_32777.359001"></a>Crown Princess." There was one called the "Golden Crown Super Roto-Matic," the Model 960 from 1957, which one of my aunts had when I was a little boy. I never saw her using it, just saw it sitting in a corner of their garage with the hose hanging on a nail above it.

Here are a couple of ads for it.

And as an interesting side note, see link.......

That's a very interesting story about the golden crown! I knew that Archimedes was the famous Greek character who famously shouted "Eureka!" when discovering the water displacement concept. But I never read the full details of the legend...

Indeed, the Crown Princess was a flat, round canister that predated the Hoover Celebrity by about 4 or 5 years. It was different from the Golden Crown Super Roto-Matic tub-sucker coloured for Eureka's 50th (Golden) anniversary in 1959.

The Crown Princess was unique in that it featured a circular trough in which you stored the hose. Kind of like Eureka's answer to the Hoover Portable. It kind of looked like a hamburger!!!! The top "bun" tilted up to reveal the bag compartment!!! :-D

I suppose the inspiration for this Eureka was the famous Sunbeam disc-shaped canister of the era....

Not many photos on the internet - but if you search some old threads here on Vacuumland, it comes up.

Here are two small photos - the first shows a graphic for the Style "O" bag it took, the second is the cleaner itself. All they needed to do was put 4 Kenmore Satellite style clamps to hold two wands on the bottom!!!! :-D
