I picked me up a Powder coat gun and a sandblasting cabnet this weekend. I've powder coated before. I've powder coated a Compact C4 metallic blue when I was in shop class. I have a few more machines I want to do this way like my Electrolux Model L that the paint is in terrible shape on. I think I'm either doing a gloss black or a metallic red on it

My brother has the system by Caswell. They offer all kinds of plating and powdercoating supplies. They have an excellent gloss black. The gloss black on steel, is the easiest powder to apply. When powdercoating aluminum you have way more issues. Especially on thick or large castings. The aluminum will off gas and create bubbles in the finish. You can preheat the items before applying the powder which helps, and they also make an additive, that when added to the powder will help to control the off gassing.
