E-Bay and My storage unit

Hi All;

I was wondering what the story is with E-Bay. I wanted to purchase a Kirby recently using the Buy it Now, but I was not able to use my PayPal Credit. I'm not sure how it is supposed to work, but I thought that if the PayPal Credit was in the item's listing that it should have been able to be used.

Because of this happening I decided to go to my storage unit to check out one of my Kirby's that does not have an ID plate on it. I located the motor unit, but didn't have enough time to find the handle. All I can say is the the nozzle's trim was dark gray or black, the light trim and belt lifter were dark red and the wheels were black. I will be going back there this weekend to find the handle and the emptor/bag which will hopefully give more of a clue to the model. This was a Kirby that was given to me by the owner of a vac store that I was friends with.

I want to thank anyone in advance for any answers or directions they can provide me.

Just a wild guess, that vac sounds like a Heritage II. The handle will tell you.

Thanks Edgar for your comment. I should have mentioned that that Kirby is from the early 1950's. I will post again after Easter with the additional information on the handle and emptor/bag. Look forward to dating the model.

As long as the seller accepts PayPal you should be able to use PayPal credit.

PayPal will first try to check your normal account, if funds aren't enough it will default to the credit. Granted your credit account needs to be established with them and up to date with payments, etc.

Any time you purchase with PayPal, the system will ask you to login and verify password to ensure authenticity.

You may want to log in to your Paypal account. Check the normal account side and also the credit side. Check your balances and credit available. See if there are any messages on the account from PayPal. For further help, contact contact their customers support. They have good hours and are very helpful!

I have little Kirby knowledge so my advice is only limited to that of the eBay and Paypal aspect!

Finally got back to storage unit

Well I finally got back to my storage unit yesterday. I started to remove some of my vacuums to look for the handle and sani-emptor/bag. I found to my surprise that the top shelf of one of my shelf units had broken after 12 years. It is made of heavy plastic. So after clearing the top shelf, I restarted my search finding the handle which has a dark gray grip. I looked into my boxes of bags and found two emptors that were gray, finding the bag it was a aftermarket replacement.

So recapping the nozzle's trim was dark gray or black, the light trim and belt lifter were dark red and the wheels were black. So I'm presuming that Kirby is pre-514. I don't know if this information will help. I plan on taking pictures when redoing the way the unit is set up, but that might be sometime down the road, as yard work is starting to take up a lot of my time when I'm not working.

The 508 was the last machine to use a black Emtor bottom.

The 513 was the first Kirby to use red trim for the headlight and nozzle bumpers, but early units still had a gray handle grip and non-swiveling top cord hook. These same units also had the older 3 amp motor. Most examples had the red handle grip and a swiveling top cord hook, plus the newer 4 amp motor as models 514-Sanitronic VII. Regardless of variation, all 513s should have the step-type foot switch rather than the toggle switch as models 512 and back.

Hey Ben

Thanks for the information. My mystery Kirby has the toggle switch. I am wondering if there was a possibility, that whoever the owner was, that some things were replaced early on. I guess what I will have to do is go back to the storage unit with my camera and take some pictures.

There is another mystery Kirby as well and I will need to pull that out when I locate it. Both of the Kirby's came from a vacuum shop in Agawam, Ma. I knew the owner and helped him when he was moving to a new location in that town. He gave me those plus another 24 different uprights for helping him. It's too bad that I didn't take pictures of all the vacuums, in full detail, as I acquired them over the years.
