I recently purchased a DC28 animal dyson with air muscle technolgy. I wish the wand hose had a extension available.I called dyson today and was told that item is not available for any of the models.

I thought I saw a post of Jack's that showed an extension hose cleaning a flight of stairs.

Hi there, Robert - for most people, 5m of hose/wand is enough!

The hose I use as an extention is the one which comes with the additional toolkit for the DC16/30/31 handheld cleaners.

In the UK, you can also purchase the hose on its own as an extension for the DC24. It will fit any of the current Dyson models with 'click-fit' connections, and gives you an extra 1m of reach. However, looking at the Dyson US website, it seems the hose isn't available as a separate part in America.

Hope this helps!

hose,,,,,,,

is there ever enough?,,,,,,,anyway using the hose wand assembly, is frustrating for me, the powerful suction (airflow) constantly retracts the hose and it hurts my hand trying to keep a grip on the handle of the wand.
Thank you for the information Jack, I really do enjoy your most interesting and informative posts.
One more question about the animal, In looking under the nozzle, it seems there are several hoses and workings to make the air muscle technology work, I am curious how long this will last. Before it would need major service.
Thank you so much
Happy New Year
Robert

I'm glad you enjoy my posts - I'm always happy to help where I can! :)

Dyson uprights are slightly limiting in terms of suction control; it's either all or nothing! With the older models, it was possible to get round this by removing the side blockage-check valve, then placing it back without clicking it firmly into place. This gave you roughly half the usual suction, which was perfect for dusting.

However, the latest wheeled uprights have a transparent U-bend blockage check valve. This design adds less weight to the cleaner, is transparent so you can see if there's an obstruction, uses less material, and is easier and less expensive to manufacture. But it does mean that you can't reduce the suction at all. I generally use the wand for high and low areas - for everything else, I clean with the tool fitted into the hose-cuff, which I don't find much of a struggle.

The Airmuscle system (and the rest of the cleaner!) is tested and guaranteed to last for at least 5 years of regular use. If it should happen to fail within that time, you're covered by Dyson's warranty. As long as it's not subjected to abuse, there should be no reason for it to go wrong.
