The unit itself can be tilted upwards or downwards depending on your preference and also oscilates from side to side...

It come with a remote control that magnetically stores on top of the unit for safe keeping. I never really use the remote due to having the App on my phone to control the unit...

The app itself is really good....
On the main homepage it tells you the outside air quality, temperature and humidity. You can also see the air quality, temperature and humidity of the room the unit is in. You can use the app from anywhere you want. For example I can view my bedrooms temperature from work and set the unit to heat the room ready for me returning home from work. Obviously your phone and the Dyson both needed to be connected to the internet for this to work. The Dyson has built in WiFi to connect to our home network.
You also get the option to use your phone as the remote for the unit, selecting a fan speed (I have mine on auto for the air purifier to activate when the air quality drops), temp, oscillation, airflow (jet or diffused), timer and night mode. In night mode the display on the unit is switched off and when in auto mode it will never run above fan speed 3 (there are 10 speed settings).

You can also track your air quality. For example in this screenshot where the graph peaks right up into the orange.... this is where I've got out of bed, made the bed and then got ready and applied aftershave etc... You can also see the little blue line along the bottom showing where the purifier has automatically activated to clean the air. You can also view remaining filter life from this screen.... the filter has a lifespan of 4300 hours... I've had the unit a week now and have left it on auto mode 24/7 since buying it. I have 4284 hours filter life remaining so I expect the filter will last me a few years

Humidity and temperature levels can also be tracked in the same way....
You also get the option to set a schedule.... for example in the winter I could set it to come on every morning before I get out of bed for work, or for me coming home from work etc

On some of the previous screenshots you can see 'Total purifying time 4h 24mins'.... this is the accumulated time the filter has automatically activated to clean the air for that selected day.
You can also set an air quality target. At this time of the year I don't suffer any allergies so I just have it set to a normal level, however I will likely turn up the sensitivity during allergy season.

In this screenshot you can see the air quality has dropped and can also see the unit has activated by the animation of air blowing from the unit.
The filter in the unit is a decent size. A layer of activated carbon granules capture odours and potentially harmful toxins like paint fumes.
Two sensors analyse indoor air quality. The dust sensor detects particles larger than one micron, such as pollen and allergens – whilst the Volatile Organic Compounds sensor identifies gases such as fumes and toxins.

All in all I'm really pleased with this product. It's really advanced and feature rich with the app. As a purifier in auto mode it is quiet and from the graphs you can see that it really does monitor the air well as the quality clearly drops when there is a lot of movement in the room. If I apply aftershave in the room the unit soon reacts and goes wild for a bit. As a fan, a fan is a fan LOL it does just as well as any other fan and is nice and quiet. The heater function is fantastic. It heats the room really really quickly and then once the selected temperature is reached it turns itself off and on as required to maintain that temperature.
It also looks smart. I have it on the unit at the end of my bed.
The initial purchase price is high at £499. Replacement filters are £50.
Would I buy this product again? Definitely.

I wonder how this compares to say a Honeywell HEPA air filter, in air filtration capability. The older Honeywells have a very large HEPA filter media with a carbon prefilter. While the features of the dyson are interesting, I have to say the price is a bit expensive. I don't think I could justify that price for a hot and cool fan with a built in air cleaner.

At Best Buy--Dyson now has a hairdryer for $400!!!!!They have it displayed in a museam type display case!Heck I can dry my hair with a towel--no 400 buck hairdryer for me!!!!
