Hi I'm not a big Dyson fan but I got a new DC44 hand vac for Christmas and I must say it is useful. Can anyone tell me the best way to clean the dust cup as I seem to be getting a build up of dust on the cone, is it possible to wash the cone? or should I just use tools from a main vacuum to clean it. I am surprised by how much dirt gets past the cyclone and ends up in the filter, is this the case with full size Dyson's

Dyson DC44

I recommend washing the bin with either cold water, or wiping it wit a dam cloth
as for the cyclone, if you want to wash it you can but let it dry for a few days (I did this with many Dysons) and it should work perfectly well, using a vacuum can be done and you could also use something like a little unwanted tooth brush to get into the nooks and crannies including the shroud assembly.

Many Thanks

Thanks for the info I'll use a micro brush on the Miele and hope that cleans it Ok if not I'l risk the wash, do you have a same problems with full size Dyson's? I had one a long time ago but only kept it for a few weeks but while it had many things that I did not like I dont remember it clogging like the DC44 does

It does not happen with Dual cyclone Dysons, however it happens alot with the newer Dysons than the early models. The early Dysons also clean better than the new ones even though they have a better design, colour and eveerything

I wash the cyclones, when I think they are dry, then I shake them to see if any water leaks out and check all the holes etc
