Dyson DC50 Compact Ball

Hey y'all! Just wanted to share today's find, it was a freebie! Lower hose was clogged and it needed some cleaning but I'm very pleased. I know some don't love Dyson but I don't hate them. Coming from a monster of a DC15 this is great for our small apartment. They've refined the diverters and hoses very well, and although they can be problematic, the hoses and springs still function as intended. Going to replace the brush roll tomorrow, the motor head on this thing is dead simple to work on so it'll be a snap. Based on the overall build quality of this cleaner, I won't expect it to last a super long time, but I'm pleased to have it. There's something about the overall look of this model that always stood out to me too

The 3 main problems these ball series vacuums have is like you noticed, the lower hose inlet clogs up. The other issue is with frequent use the plastic kickstand wears out and it will not stay up on its own anymore, and the third thing is if you ever have to service the motor, you need to be a NASA physicist to get that ball assembly back together again!

I don't recall the Ball series cleaners ever getting much hate for their performance, just their looks people didn't find suited them. Some of the models are also really tiny, it's almost like a kid's vacuum.

The seem to take abuse well which is surprising for the intricacy of the design mechanics. I have one I found at Goodwill, and I am not joking you, I weighed it, the bin has 7 pounds of dirt and sand inside it! It is absolutely filthy! It's like someone tried to clean their back garden or something, what a mess.

Not a dyson lover. I bought a dc30 for $15 cleaned it up and sold it for $75 a few years back. There just hard to find without something broke. If there low price and nothing broke there easy to sell.

It's the perfect thing for a quick zing around the house. All the Dyson performance in a small package

I just like to mess with cheap stuff from time to time, it's a good diversion when I'm not in the best mood. Worst case scenario it breaks and I'm only a few bucks into it for parts, or I get tired of it and flip it for a profit. No it won't ever out perform most of my other cleaners but it's fun to use!

with you evolutionclean. a few years ago Costco had the Death Star on the Dyson ball animals. I bought the last one. It was the demo out of box for $99. That was my first Dyson. Overall I really like it. It does feel cheap and you can tell the latches won't last long. Im happy with the purchase and it is fun to use
