Dyson DC44

I'm not a big Dyson fan, but I just got a DC44, is it worth it NO WAY, but its christmas, Do I like it YES, its very good for small jobs like my dining chairs covered in navy cashmere not a good if you have 2 dogs . Its also good on stairs and the car and cleaning out the bottom of the fridge

DC44

I got a DC44 Animal about three months ago and I LOVE IT!

Not cheap by any means but I find it works well in my house (I dont have any pets) and the mini PM which comes with the Animal version is particularly good at cleaning stairs. I will admit that the dust chamber is not very big but then it is really a hand cleaner.

Hopefully with correct maintenance it will last a long time but I would not hesitate to buy another if I needed to

I do have pets and find the mini turbine on my one to be great for removing fur of the couches. i used to use a upright vacuum for the carpets and flooring and cylinder one for the dusting and couches, i now use the 35 for that as it works so much better and is easier to walk around with

Upright for rugs

Im looking for a good upright to use on hand made rugs I was using a SEBO felix its very gentle on the rugs as it has a soft brush roll I got as an extra but its broken down again and I'm not spending a penny more of my money fixing it anymore Anyone recommend a good a good but gentle upright, Would an old Hoover Senior work well on rugs or are they too aggressive I would love to find a vintage vacuum

Dyson Mini Brush

The mini brush on the DC44 works even better than the one on my miele I'm impressed with Dyson for the 1st time ever I mains version of this with a little bigger PN and dust cup would be good

Tool set

The tools work really well for me the little hose is very useful but I wish it had a swivel joint. Why does this little Vac keep making me think about my old Dustette? it was a very good duster but rubbish at dog hair

i have a dc16 animal, to be honest i don't like it, ive not even had it a year and the mini PN has burnt out, the battery only works intermittantly and so does the battery indicator. but it is handy. when its charged, which due to the very short run time it rarely is!!
though i used my friends dc35 and i like it!!

What about the Electrolux Z500 series? They're gentle, but then so are the Oreck XL uprights if you can stand them. I wouldn't say my old Senior or Junior is particularly good for soft delicate rugs -they tend to either have belts that snap on the rug if it slips all over the floor, and if its a thicker rug that more or less doesn't have that issue, then the beater bars have a tendency to flatten the pile down. At least with the Oreck's brushes, they're a lot softer.

Ive said it before and say it again, Oreck's brushes/general brush roll is a fantastic groomer - but the noise puts me off Oreck to say the least.

hmm, upright for delicate rugs.... i see why you say oreck, but what about a dyson dc24?? lightweight, brushroll isn't too agressive, then again you have the dc44 so you may not want another dyson,

I wouldnt recommend an Oreck for throw rugs. While their brush roll is great for grooming, they have a nasty habit of eating edges. I dont have any experience with their new "forever" belts, but if you have an older Oreck and throw rugs, expect to change the belt often! (and get used to a burning rubber smell lol)

Frankly the more I think about it, I think most uprights have a habit of chewing edges and unless they have a motor protected belt brush roller and use replaceable rubber drive belts, I think you're asking for trouble. I don't know why but I recall watching a programme many years ago about how Buckingham Palace rugs were kept clean. They used a Hoover Senior based model with a metal grid fitted over the moving beater bar. Another programme showed a soft Parquet brush floor tool being used directly onto carpet, naturally with non-moving bristles against rugs but then also adding in the extra weight of pushing thicker bristles against resistant material.

Vorwerk

I'm thinking about a used Vorwerk any views on them for rugs ? The SEBO has been the best vacuum at cleaning rugs BUT They are so unreliable my local vac shops full of them all with the same problems they told me they have spoken to sebo many times but they have never made a few small changes the would stop the problems, its a pity

Whats the problem? Is it the ET-1 you're referring to that stops if the rug isn't stuck to the floor?

Felix is back again

The problem is always with the cable braking at the point it gos into the handle apart from that I have a bog problem with the rude staff at SEBO and the fact that they do not give any warrantee on cables. The last time it went wrong I refused to have it fixed and spend more money on it and it stayed in the back of the cupboard but one day a few weeks ago I just happened to ask someone if knew if they has the same problem, O yes she said but my husband fix it this time and it been fine since then any to cut short he fixed mine a dropped it but this morning and its working like new + he has put an extra clamp in the cable so I have my fingers x. When working the SEBO is one of the best vacuums on the market at the moment and its very gentle on lose rugs with the soft brush role

It is strange - Ive never replaced a cable yet - still on the original one. Id have thought replacing a cable is as easy as replacing one on the X series. I find the Espares videos invaluable.
