If I had a kid.....

That looks like a toy vacuum to me. I can see why they're also called "DieSoon".....Bill in Az....

Now THAT'S odd...I wasn't aware the DC27 had been officially launched in the UK or US yet!

I was told about the DC27 by someone at Dyson back in January, and it appeared on several online stores back in February. At that time, it was featured in the current Argos catalogue, but so far, none of these retailers have any in stock, and we're now in May! There must have been some major unexpected problem with the machine to cause Dyson to delay the launch of the 27 AFTER they'd already begun to promote it through some of the UK's largest retailers!

Or perhaps the back-stock of the finally-discontinued DC07 didn't sell out as fast as they'd expected (given the economy, etc), and they wanted to shift those before offering something new. I guess we'll never know!

All of which make the one on eBay potentially a LOT more interesting...

I learned from a very reliable source....

that this is a Sams Cub Exclusive model only. Not sold anywhere else...

Can anyone else shed light on this?

The particular version of the model on eBay may be a Sam's Club exclusive, but the DC27 will be available in the UK. Ours is different, though - it has the clutch control, and it looks like the floorhead is quite different to the US version.

I was told in a January email from a VERY reliable source at Dyson UK that the DC27 would receive a low-key UK trade launch in February 2009, and it was pitched at the section of the market who prefer wheels to the Ball design. It certainly has been low-key so far, seeing as we have the promotion, but no machines!

The scanned page below has run in Argos catalogue since the Spring/Summer 2009 issue was released in February. Despite having been advertised like this for 3 months, it is still currently listed as 'out of stock' if you try to purchase one. Same goes for the online retailers like littlewoodsdirect, additionsdirect, etc.

One interesting point: suddenly, for a week or so, on all the online listings for this model, the model number was changed to 'N27'. Then, just as suddenly, it was changed back to DC27!
