DYSON DC11 cyclone disassembly struggle - help me please

Heya!

So I managed to find myself a pretty decent DC11, all complete and in a good condition, apart from one thing - it's hella dirty.

It's my first time disassembling a Dyson and, surprise surprise, I'm struggling with taking apart the cyclone. I have the exact same key screwdriver, I've taken out all the screws I could see and thats about it. I can't open it even tho I can see it's slightly opening. Any tips? i've searched the internet and no help

The best solution is to scrap that Dyson and get yourself a REAL vacuum, One with a bag in it.

Oh come on, let the kid play In fact, if anyone has any tips on taking any of it apart that'd be majorly appreciated. That bloody James hides the screws as much as he can. I've been struggling to take this bastard apart for the past 3 hours. My mum started doubting in my vacuum skills, and so have I. Gosh, I remember taking apart one of the 3 in 1 Vax machines and that was so easy, this just reminds me of my A levels.

The one time I took one of those apart-besides the screws you had to sort of pull,twist to get the pieces apart----then run them thru a dishwasher with the heat dry cycle turned off so you don't melt or warp the parts.You may have to polish the inside of the bin if you still want it glass clear as when the Dyson is new.The parts do have gaskets in them.DON'T run those thru the washer.This was many years ago when I got a doggy smell DC7 I think it was --from the Kirby mans van trade in pile.The machine still sits in the corner.Dysons are just NOT for me.Got that one to try it-was free!Instead of washing its filter-simply bought a new one.You won't be able to wash all of the stuff out of those filters-best just to get a new one every 6 months or so,or when the performance drops and the vac smells.Its just too much bother to try to wash those filters.

Cyclone is now in pieces... well, sort of - can i take the shroud off of the two mini cyclone bits?

I mean the marked bit - I want to take the grid off and clean under it - is the rubber band glued to both pieces or is it just magically twisted together?

All done! stay tuned for some photos once I'm done with it.

I need to get the hose and all the attachments. I've got the telescopic tube, but the hose attached to it was cut in half... for some reason unknown to me. But I'll do that once I get back to London, currently back home in Poland.

Also, another fun info - guess how much I paid for all that? 10 pounds! My mum discovered this village in the heart of Poland where literally everyone lives off selling used crap. Almost every person living there has got a massive warehouse full of everything - raging from furniture, through bikes, kitchen appliances, car parts, cd's and vinyls, old radios, clothes all the way up to vacuum cleaners. The amount of Mieles and Vorwerk's Kobolds is crazy. I got one Miele S143 for my gran I'll show you guys later.
