I made a start on this on Friday night with the Cyclone.

And that's it for now. Motor and clutch out next hopefully. Bought new belts too, so hopefully changing 2 clutched belts isn't too hard...

Awesome! I had a DC07 Animal last year and now there is one on Gumtree for 20 pounds, I will buy it hopefully, (most likely) and It is good to see a Dyson being refurbished properly PS how do you clean the eeals? Like they do get stained, and I use soapy hot water but unfortunatelyvtueycstill look stained Thanks, Tayyab

BTW you can pull tge purple fins out on the cyclone and tgen the shroud can be cleaned :-D

Tayyb - I use baby wipes! 1 to get most of the rubbish is off, then another one rubbed well to get the staining off. Can be very satisfying! I don't clean them in the shower for fear of them going down the plughole

Thanks Sam! And yep I agree with you about washing the seals in the sink, so Hows the DC07 refurbishment so far? I might get my new Dyson (either a DC25 All Floors, a DC07 Animal or a white DC14 All Floors) and post pics of cleaning it out too

Well, half of it is spread out across the floor dry, the rest is yet to be started, however I received a longer t15 torx driver, a belt removal tool, some new belts, filters and the unofficial service manual (which is fairly good).

My plan tonight is get home early and get the rest apart for washing, get it drying and get the belts changed. The cyclone is back together now, everything else will go in a box until it is ready to go back together! I showed the intended recipient pictures of it so far and he was impressed and pleased too!

Amy came home with a DC04 that belonged to one of her friends, which was dead. 10 minutes and a few inches of cable chopped off later and good as new! I washed the filters out for her friend, she can take it back tonight. Might start charging if enough people ask me to repair them, make some beer money!

Lol wow! Thats cool, I was about to repair a family friends dc27 as the brush didnt turn, the clutch was just probably off

Just a quick question- would you prefer a DC07 Animal or aDC14 All Floors with a white cleaner head and cyclone etc

I'd have to say the 14 did look smart in white. Well, it would after a massive spa session to de-smeg and polish it!
After payday I may be tempted to grab one and try for a bit of profit

Thanks I like the DC14 wand better but I hate the awful large debris channel as there is not full suction in the carpet, with my allergy one I blocked it up and it worked much better

I've just seen someone vacuuming out their car with a white DC14!

I used my air compressor to blow out the cyclones in my DC07 and it worked great! Also replaced the Post motor filter or HEPA filter under the bin. It works like new again!

Once I'd realised to lip the seal over the motor it went in fine!

The next stage was full of frustration as I'd forgotten the order it goes in, so took it apart more than once, still, random pictures

New post motor filter. The seals had no sticky on them so I superglued them to the filter housing

Definatley needed the belt tool, the new one was soooooo short compared to the old one. Got there in the end though

I then vacuumed the entire flat with it, and it's so much better. Was a pleasure to use, and picked up alot, but the howling noise it makes now the cyclones are clean would drive me nuts! I'm 99% sure I haven't left a seal out, and the noise stops when the cyclone is removed.

Still, sure it will block up and go away soon!

WOW it looks so brand new! have you replaced the brushbar? that would be amazing when it comes to grooming the carpet, for a clutched Dyson it would make quite a difference, and Well done on cleaning it up! not even a speck of dust on the machine
One of the best refurbishments I have ever seen

Cheers. Not going to bother with a new brushroll yet, will see how it copes in its new home. Dyson brushrolls have never been great at grooming short pile in my opinion anyway.

I thoughts they were excellent for thin pile, but when I used my clutched DC14 Allergy on my thick wool Rug, it was terrible at grooming, so I used the DC25 Animal, which was way better

Its not great on the carpet in our flat. If its still not brilliant on whatever carpet its used for next I may replace it. It does feel a bit soft, but then so do all the others I've had

Ok, I personally recommend the DC15 as it got an amazing brushbar that grooms like a dream and has great suction, but a better alternative is the DC25, less suction but stillcstiff brisyles and is like a simplified DC15
But the Helix is a crappy brush because of 2 rows of bristles
